@Dean have you thought about maybe printing words on it that correspond to the key position? Kinda like this image?

I'm trying to keep the cost down! But I do appreciate the feedback. In fact I have previously incorporated customer feedback to improve the design on occasion.

I could add raised or sunk letters to the 3d model very easily. But this would then interfere with later finishing steps.
However, if you desire lettering - may I suggest you try water slide decal paper for your inkjet printer and a couple of clear coats?

Seems to me that sunk letters would be nicer than raised ones, and that doing it would require another step and piece of equipment, like a glowforge or something. definitely more expensive. I don't have a need for that. the little finish ring to keep me from jamming my key into that gap is more than enough.

I'm in the same boat. It doesn't bother me other than knowing it's wrong and there's a good fix available here!

At first when I seen this post I was thinking why? But after inserting the key multiple times and realizing how much the ignition moves around I got to looking at it and thought, maybe the ring will limit the sided to side movement. Ordered, installed and yes, it does limit the side to side movement/sloppiness. :like:

So I was bored last night and went for a drive to fill my Ranger with gas. I decided to really look at the ignition and I'm super glad I ordered the trim ring. It really is sloppy loose! I'm wondering what kind of wear and tear that is going to result in over the years.

Yeah, this thread sucks....only because it made me read the whole GD thing during a video conference call and order my own.

I love the GITD option too - and that's the one I ordered.

You make some very valid points, I don't know the intricacies of 3D printing so I was throwing out an idea. The ring your making still is really awesome and I will be ordering one!

Got mine today. It does a great job of restricting the movement in the ignition.
