I find it pretty disappointing that there isn't anyway for passengers in the backseat (kids, in my case) to turn on a light without me activating the dome. Has anyone looked at adding convenience lights for the passengers in the rear? Perhaps replacing the ceiling handles on each side with ones that have lights? Is there another option I'm not considering?

I swear I could click the center dome on and off by pushing on it. IIRC

Edit: Or is that what you don't want? You wish there was rear map lights essentially?

Yes, you can just press on the dome light to turn it on. Alternatively, there is an AC outlet and 2 USB ports that can be used to power additional lighting.

Maybe a night light w/a switch plugged into the 12V plug in the back of the console. I don't know if that will get the light where they need it, but it won't be glaring in your eyes while you're trying to drive.

Hi Darin,

I added two of these to the rear USB ports for back seat passengers.

Yes, I'm trying to give the kids an option to read without the dome light being on.

Great idea, Phil! I bet I could find some like this that would work. Thank you.

Also would be nice if there were USB ports on the rear cab wall to allow for something like this to be right behind the seat. Hmmm... ?

Very similar to Phil's idea, thank you. I'm going to investigate these and see what I can come up with.

I like that idea. You could run a USB extension from the port, under the seats, to the rear wall. Then mount and plug in the reading lights right behind the rear headrests.

I can’t imagine that it’d be too hard to put in some 45degree rear facing switched lamps into the headliner and connect to the dome wiring

Is there a way to add a 12V outlet on the rear wall of the cab? Surely someone has done that? Then I could easily add two USB powered book lights without cables impeding movement.

Buy them a pair of those headlight style flashlights, or grab a couple of battery operated LED lights on Amazon.
