@P. A. Schilke : Is there anyone in your world that could shed some light on this? Either my Google-fu is broken (unlikely), nothing has been publicly released or my dealer is full of crap. If it comes down to it, I'm going to call Ford corporate, but that is unlikely to go anywhere.

Hi Derek,

Unfortunately I do not have any contacts in the Automotive Safety Office. I also do not know if the motor for the 2019 Ranger is an off shore product or a stateside product. Your best bet is to first, contact another dealer and see if they say the same thing and then contact Ford Customer Service...If there is any truth to what the dealer is saying, as this is a safety issue, they should be able to advise you. Even if it is "we do not have a fix for this problem as of yet".... Seems to me that others in the same boat would be chiming in on this if it was put on hold as the fix blower motor did not work.

Good luck! My fear is that the recall will balloon to cover all 2019 production, which will be a huge mess. I sat on my old 2007 Ranger for the Takata Air bag issue as there was no parts for that Ranger for years and years.... I was told "don't crash" by my dealer...Jerks!

best,

Something definitely doesn't sound right. Calling Ford send like a good idea, to establish whether this is a case of dealer ignorance. If replacing the motor doesn't fix the problem then I'd expect a new recall because all the motors they said were fine must not be.

I called another dealer. He found the recall, but couldn't find anything on the "stop fix". It is a small dealer and they haven't had any Rangers in for the the recall yet. I'll see if I can call Ford.

Hi Aaron,

Thanks for the clarification..... Yep...do not install a service motor with the same date codes as the suspect motor... Seem Ford Parts and Service was slow to purge service stock of the offending motor...Sheesh!

Similar to 1981 Escort head gasket issue...Three suppliers. McCord was the production problem Others were just fine. McCord was the 100% service supplier and only 10% production, so for those problem vehicles suffering blown head gaskets, the service part had the same problem...They had to purge stock and then folks were hanging while new service stock was secured...Huge Mess!

Well that clears things up a bit. I bet my dealer had received defective fans.

Absolutely call before you go! Otherwise you might get there for them to tell you that they are not doing the recall like they did to my wife. At least one good thing came out of my situation. They are going to come and pick up the truck and drop it off when they do finally get their shit together.
