Thanks for taking the time to do this! I really need them to fold tighter, I decided to try my luck with some cheap clip-ons from Amazon for now. Worst case, I hate them and go with the Clearview's in a few weeks. I'm only out $40 if they don't pan out.
I understand. For us they are great as we tow frequently during March thru Nov. Some long weekends and many 1 to 2 week trips. Having to mount and dis-mount clip on mirrors daily when we're parked in a campground and using the truck for touring would be a pain for us. Having the CV mirrors just makes it easy.
I tried several sets of clip-on's but was not satisified with any....some have had better luck, so by all means, try some first. If you only camp out occasionally they may just work out for you.

Just joined the club, put some next Gen Clearviews on this afternoon. I don't typically like doing this kind of thing but it really was easy. An hour plus but I'm too slow and too careful. Hardest part was paying for them, needed the most expensive pair for Lariat.
They'll take some getting used to when not towing. I felt the original mirrors gave a large blindspot on drivers side, these more so.
I just returned from a 7 week trip towing an 8' wide trailer and the need for these became clear to me. Clip ons were ok in good weather, not in raining or worse.
I'm not a saver of things anymore, too old. If anyone needs a set of OEM's with bliss, power, heat etc then pm me. I'll let them go for shipping. Have the packaging from new ones, they cost $45 for shipping for an idea.
All the best.

Mine are still in the box. Can explain the blind spot? Is it forward looking or rear view on the new mirror?

Pretty sure he's meaning looking toward the front over the mirrors. As they are larger, they block a bit more of the view looking out the left front side....look at your OE mirror....these will block a bit more view.
I've had a set for several years now, and you will get used to them quickly.

Forward looking. Even on my original Ranger mirrors I felt a bit blinded looking down and to the left, have to pay attention to lines and lanes when turning left. Maybe it's just how I sit but don't remember that on my F150. New clearview make it a little worse as its a bigger mirror. Like most things though, you adjust after a bit.
I took a 10 mile ride after putting them on without trailer. Vision was good all around. Backed into my driveway on left side, its 2 cars wide with wife's car on right. Passenger mirror has that annoying "larger than appears" feature which made her car seem way too close. Realized that the bottom mirror works best in that instance as its real.
All in all, just more getting used to new stuff. Can't wait to try them while camping but its mud season here.

I hope you've found something that works since you posted. I've used the Amazon clip-ons with an eight foot wide travel trailer and I was not happy with the view. I bought a wireless rearview camera and mounted that on the back of the trailer and it's a world of difference on the road and backing into a campsite. I installed the camera at the top and tapped into the wiring of the running lights at the top of the back of the trailer. I switch the lights from Auto to On and the camera has power. I mounted the monitor in the dash tray and dropped the power line under the dash to the fuse box. I've never had any problems with the wireless connection.

I bought a pair used from a seller here on the forums. I got the compact version.

Install was super duper easy with a little trick: I had a super low profile ratchet that I bought for hard to reach places. Was able to slip a T30 torxbit into this thing, and undo the bolt behind the door card without actually removing the door card. The ratchet is a Klein Tools 65200. I just had to pop out the top two clips on the door card (just give it a firm tug) to get enough room for the ratchet with the bit. Then just have to be really careful removing the bolt so I didn't drop it inside the door.

Using this trick, install was about 10 minute per mirror. Took me longer to find my T30 bit than it did to actually do the job.

I drove around on the highway with them, they're pretty stable even when fully extended. I had worried they might vibrate a little at higher speeds but all is well.

Anyway, definitely recommend. The mirrors are a lot larger than the stock mirrors and give a lot more field of view.
