Which do you perfer???
I have owned either one or the other for every used vehicle I owned.
It might be interesting to read the 2019 Ranger repair manual next year :)

I like either, but I have yet to be able to find one for my last two cars before I no longer own them.

I liked both. Chilton's always seem to have more detailed information like VIN decoding as well as specs. Haynes was thorough with describing the process for repair.

Just to continue this (old) thread :D

Does anyone have a source for either Chilton or Hayes?
I haven't seen any online -- it looks like they might not exist yet for 2019+

( I used both for my '97, and liked both ; the contents were complimentary )

I believe they are owned by the same company now.

I read somewhere that they are going to stop printing manuals and go completely online. The good thing is that it sounds like they will give you access to any vehicle - the bad news is that it will be an ongoing subscription fee.

The whole world is moving to a SAS Model - Software as a Subscription or Software as a Solution. Hell - I can't even buy Microsoft Office now. I have to subscribe to it. That means when some monkey-nutz a-hole runs over a power pole, I lose internet and then I'm down for the count. That's a bad juju idea. Some tools you just need in print.

It is because companies want a constant revenue source - but some things don't lend themselves well to that. I still use Office 2003 and it does 99% of everything I need it to. But Microsoft has to keep coming up with new "features" in order to justify the expense. FYI, you CAN still get office without the subscription, but it is getting harder to.

Here is the student/home version at Costco:

https://www.costco.com/microsoft-office-home-and-student-2019-(e-delivery).product.100462215.html

The other thing is that the Office 365 (the subscription) still works, even when the internet is down. It does install the app on your system so it will work even without a connection - at least for a while.

There are only a few things that I've opted to go the subscription route. Some things I've just opted to do without or find open source alternatives to.

Welcome to the future.....

Does anyone have a link?
Online searches didn't yield anything beyond spam sites.
Maybe they're called something else now, though.
