Carvana just listed my 2019 XLT FX4 with 9500 miles that I sold to them a couple of weeks ago. They paid me $35.2K and listed it for just under $38K. Will be interesting to see how long it stays available. Crazy if they can sell what's now almost a 2 year old truck for $2K under what it's full MSRP was. I paid $31K OTD in Nov 2019. What's funny/interesting is that they offer less for the 2020 Lariat FX4 I replaced my 2019 XLT with. On a truck that is 1 year newer, fewer miles, and a $5K higher MSRP.

They are targeting the market. Most probably don't go for the highest level trim w/Lariat so that is not as good of a seller as the XLT. 4wd may or may not be part of that calculation and then you throw in regional differences and go from there but they have a good logistical transport network and can get vehicles to where they need to be quickly to provide the max profit.

Mine keeps going up about 700 / week and now at 500 more than I paid... if it hits 4k... that's a tough decision. Love the truck but I can take 25k and put in a good mutual fund and still have 10k for a down payment on whatever I get in the future. I do have the Miata to drive so I don't NEED a truck, I just like having one.. When the Santa Cruz comes out I'll definitely look at that as it fits my uses better than a truck that can tow a tank lol.

Finally got an offer from Carvana on my '21 XLT Sport 4x4 with 2,500 miles. $31,000. Disappointing. MSRP was $38,755. Apparently, they had to do a "manual" appraisal since it is so new.

So I had to do another Caravan because you guys are getting such great prices. I guess they upped their game here because my newest quote is $31,738. o_O Now I'm not positive that last years was $23,000 but I know it was somewhere in the $20's. Still an interesting off but I'm not enough to sell right now.

Carvana Offer 4:18:21.webp
Same exact situation in Az for me too, last October 24,500 from Car Max, now 32,224 from Carvana. There is a 2021 301a 2wd blackout package (same exact truck I own) in Az for 33,000. Looks like a wash, but sales tax of 2,672 and doc fees, not to mention shell installment charges etc would make it about 4,500 more out of pocket for a truck 18 months ( two model years) newer. Since I keep trucks 12 years or more this isn’t enough to jump through hoops, enticing though.

Mine started going down... was 34,500 on 5/4 and now 32,500 today... maybe I check too much and they smell blood in the water and lower the offer to entice you to sell before it drops too much.

I checked it out for fun.

They offered me 29,600 for an 2019 XLT 2x4 with 4,700 miles with all the options checked that applied.

But the OP has an 19' XL 4x4 with 30,000 miles and gets offered $2,600 less?

lol I would have expected far more based on other stories I've heard for my truck.
So I just figured out how Carvana is attempting to bone sellers who select the wrong choices when you are getting an offer.

By simply checking the generic "Does this truck have modifications?" here is the price difference for my offer:

$28,300 (mods) vs. $33,491 (no mods)

I was wondering why mine was so low (and it is even lower since my last above quoted post HAHA). So if you added a cold air intake (example) and check that box, they are going to offer you substantially LESS money. Probably to the tune of almost $6,000!

I could remove all my mods and re-sell alot to recoup a couple of grand on the private market, but in todays market I bet I cold sell my truck as is privately for more than they offer. I often toy with the idea of putting a for sale sign in my window for $40,000 "will not reduce" just to see what would happen.

But no reason for me to sell on a 0% APR 84 month old loan. Any replacement will require a loan with interest to replace it.

At this point one local dealer told me that to get the best deal on a Ranger you are better off ordering one. Keep in mind, I am looking for a basic 4x4 Lariat and those are hard to come by around here. There are lots of XL, XLT and Lariat Tremors available. I am curious about the ordering process but worried about the timeline. I cannot go that long without a vehicle. So for now I will wait.

I found that out when I selected I had a suspension mod. It was over a $1000 difference. I can have it removed and reinstalled on a new Ranger for less than that ?

I don't know if I would call that trying to rip people off, as a reseller they have no idea if the modifications were done professionally, and they will have to disclose those modifications to a new buyer. So more than likely they are factoring in the cost to remove what they can and replace with parts or for the lack of buyers who may be interested will reduce the pool of possible sales. I did not disclose anything on my sale, but it is well known that there is really no value to modifications, with a few exceptions like spray in bedliners, tinted windows, etc. But even those you will not get what the full cost you put into it. I removed all my mods and just transferred them to the new truck (except the window tint obviously).

Members on another message forum are saying that VROOM is several thousands over Carvana.

Mindboggling still how they are paying up to $7000 over what people originally paid for their vehicles (19-21).

Vroom is always less than Carvana for me.

I believe it depends on your region.

My Vroom offer is now within $1200 of Carvana when before it was $2500 lower.

Is one better than the other? Meaning if both are offering the same price is one more reliable than the other as far as selling to them?

Glad I got my 2021 when I did. Lariat for almost $39k with 20k miles on it is nuts.

I've never had personal dealings with either of them though I have seen many on here report positive experiences with Carvana.
