So did my own phone cradle upper dash tray mod and ran my lightning cable inside the dash all the way down to the CarPlay USB ports. My new cord has a right angle USB and lightning plugs that (wouldn’t you know it) fit the wrong way in the USB jack. So, easy fix I assumed and yanked the jack out to flip it 180 degrees. Tried to pop it back in and wasn’t having it. On closer inspection the thing is keyed to go in one direction only. Anyone got a tip for a remedy to this setback?
Otherwise this new setup is awesome. Just drop my phone into it’s cradle and it jacks itself and syncs. Adjustable arm for positioning and a grommet plug for cord exit of the tray. No dash wires! Woo Hoo!
