I have a 17 foot Coleman and use the bed hitch extension for local use only. And if I decide to go further than the lake that is in our neighborhood I have bed racks to put it above my roof. I have a supercab so that’s 11ft hanging out the back of the truck. Definetly would not recommend driving on anything but local roads with that kind of load hanging out the back. For one it looks dangerous and two it is dangerous

Thanks for all the advice guys. iv thought about getting a smaller canoe, but wasnt really what i wanted .

i decided to go with a Prinsu roof rack instead.
That’s why I added the Prinsu rack to mine. I’ll have to take a pick of it with the canoe up there. The canoe is almost as long at the truck.

yeah id really like to see that. any issues strapping it down?
No issues at all. I’ve only driven it a few km pretty slow to a boat launch. I need to get the hood loops installed before taking it out on the highway.

Yeah I have a 12 foot 69 pound tank of a Jackson Fishing Paddleboard that is about as long as I'd go with the extender.

This kayak is 15'9" 83 lbs, the truck bed is 6'6". Although I do have a Prinsu now with both canoe & kayak carriers for it, if I didn't, I'd have no concerns carrying this kayak in the same methods as shown in these photos. Even hanging out the rear, as long as it's centered the sweep stays inside the travel path of the truck.
