Are you able to set the Ranger to run only 2-10 on the transmission in forscan, or is the only option in "manual button" mode? I feel like 1st is a waste of time/power now, and just makes a leave from a dead stop feel slow and sluggish. Some context, im currently running Ford Perfomance Tune, a throttle respone module, mishimoto charge pipes, cat back delete, AFE air box scope, and a ram air scope (homemade), ASS off, and Trans learning off, and a 2.5in front leveling spacer. Average 17mpg.

You need a rather involved tune to do it right. I just use manual mode and take off in second, then either slap it back into drive or switch off manual mode.

Ya thats what i was thinking. I was reaching for a set it and forget it setting lol. Ive mainly just defaulted to rolling about 20mph before mobbing to avoid the hassel of the manual off delay inorder to stay in sport. Lol

I don’t have much better traction in second gear. I do pretty good taking off in first, if I need better traction I usually use 4wd. I’m making considerably more power than you are and I know my transmission tuning is also way different. I
do like taking off in second too though.

How is that possible? The manual gear selection simply tells the system the highest gear to use. So even if you set it to 2, it still has to go through 1.

Put it in sport manual. You can select second gear with the button before you start moving. Simple.

So you are telling me, in Sport Mode, if you put it in gear 9 from a start its going to bog or stall?

Because you can manual select gears in D mode as well, however all it does is set highest possible gear.

Granted I never used sport mode, for 3 something years I was running a 93 performance tune, so I never had much reason to use Sport Mode, but this would be news to me.

Directly from the manual:

Engine damage could occur if you maintain excessive engine revving without shifting. SelectShift does not automatically upshift, even if the engine is approaching the RPM limit.

For 10 speed transmissions - with the transmission selector lever in sport (S) position: • Press the (+) button on the transmission selector lever to upshift. • Press the (-) button on the transmission selector lever to downshift. E269656

To exit this mode, return the transmission selector lever to drive (D). When your vehicle is stationary, you can only select the 1st and 2nd gears. Manual shifting is sequential. Therefore, you cannot skip gears

You can only select first or second before you start moving, after that you can do whatever.

Cool, I spend a lot of time in sport mode going back and forth between manual and automatic.
Yea I pretty much exclusively used tow mode and locked out gear 9 & 10. Was the perfect combo with performance tune and my rolling hills area around here.

4high, advance trac off, sport mode, throttle module set to 3.4, foot brake launch at 2k rpm is my fun mode. But i do run tow mode also for hilly areas.
