What's the black box by the rear view mirror of the 2019 Ford Ranger?

As I understand it. That's the camera for the lane keeping assist, auto high beam on for the headlights sensor and maybe the windshield wiper rain sensor as well.

IIRC, Ford uses the same camera for the auto-high beams, rain wipers, and lane keeping. but then they use a different sensor for the autodimming mirror

Rain wipers are an Infrared sensor (just above the camera) as it's the same tech most auto makers use. The auto dimming mirror is a common part that Ford uses, and is standalone for vehicles without the camera system.

LMAO...that is because the auto-dimming mirror looks backwards.

The Autodimming mirror has to look forwards and backwards. Look at the back of your mirror and you'll find a little port with a translucent piece of plastic in it.

Anyone know what the actual term is for this box? Trying to research how to safely remove and possibly use power from one of those devices to power a dashcam.

Did you ever grab power from this? I'm looking to get a adapter to power a dash cam.
