I changed the tires on my 2018 Ranger from BF Goodrich to Bridgestone Duelers............it's like day and night. I rarely drive off road but the Goodrich tires in both wet and dry conditions were a nightmare to stop on the tarmac............Since putting on the Dualers my confidence level is back to where it should be. If anyone else is having issues stopping with the BF Goodrich take a look at the Duelers.

I have no affiliation with any of these tire guys I'm just a regular guy hanging out in Phuket

Strange, the BFG is a very popular tire. Most go from the Dueler to a BFG. The Dueler seem decent though

I added the BFG to my truck the same day the truck was delivered, they looked amazing on my truck but right off the get go they didn't feel great when trying to stop, two weeks later I ran into the back of another truck doing 40 MPH in the wet. After that I kept using them for about another 6 months until I had another scare at a traffic light. I spoke with the tire shop where I bought the BFG and they recommended the Duelers.........that was about 3 months ago and all I can is that they are night and day with regards to both stopping and handling.

Hi Neil,

It is very hard for the customer purchasing aftermarket tires to assess replacement tires for the attributes of the tire. Good looking tires that have poor water removal will result in what you experience. I learned a lot about performance tires by managing Ford's Off Road racing for some 25 years. The desert racers needed totally different tires than the short course mid west racers, who raced in wet clay muck. Installing tires based on looks can invite disasters like you experienced... This forum has quite a bit of assessment on tires and could be of value when you purchase tires that suit your needs. It appears water removal is a top priority for you...

Best,

Which model of BF Goodrich were you using before that you didn’t like?

OP, which Dueler version?
Look like the Dueler AT REVO 3 new in USA but yours have different pattern. I am affiliated and love my Bridgestone tires.

ndwgolf, what an amazing looking Ranger.

Glad to hear you found the right tires for your needs. We say many times that all tires are a product of compromise. There is no one tire that scored a 5 out of 5 in all performance areas. It pays to know what your priorities are and choose the right tires to fit your performance attributes.

I have no affiliation with any tire guys either.... I'm just a regular guy hanging out in U-Taw! (definitely not as cool as "Phuket" tho!)

I put BFG KO2 LT275/70R17 on my truck immediately after purchase and have never looked back. The tires have an excellent ride on pavement (both wet & dry) and have never let me down in snow/dirt/mud, etc.

I rarely actually "need" to use 4WD (2WD gets me thru most stuff) but when in 4WD, the Ranger performs like a "snow-cat"! (it can get pretty crazy in the canyons here)

Sure, it's mostly the truck doing the "heavy-lifting".... but where the rubber-meets-the-road, I would definitely give the BFG's a solid thumbs up. :like:

I love my BFG AT tires on my Ranger. I haven’t done any off roading on them yet but they look great!
I have gotten so many compliments of how good they look on the truck.
