Long story short I want to take the XLT logo on my fender vents and backfill between the letters so that I can smooth it into a flat surface and make the logo disappear.

I'm not sure in this category the best material to use whether it be Bondo fiberglass JB weld or something else.

I don't think the letters are raised more than a quarter inch.

Or the better option maybe to grind the letters down and then just backfill in the blemishes

theres so many products that would do a good job.
i dont know whats at your local stores, but i would steer you towards a 2 part epoxy lightweight filler.
sands easy and if you get an air bubble its not a big deal to do more and sand again.
paints well afterwards or whatever youre doing.

i've used some expensive aircraft purposed stuff as well as body filler types and had good success filling gaps
Basically I want to sand the Ford badging down flat and repaint it so that I can install my own badging which will probably just come in the form of high grade 7 year vinyl lettering I just need a smooth surface.
