We towed with the family car. This blast from the past is parked my neighbor's shop this morning.

My grandparents towed a 36’ Airstream with a 1976 Caprice Classic. That car was handed down to me. My first car. I still remember the 23 channel CB radio and the airbags for the rear suspension.

That thing is honestly in great shape.
It really is. The interior has a few missing parts, like the tailgate inside trim, but the seat upholstery is all new and the body/paint looks very good. 460 engine too. I think it is a 1976, which means it is probably something like 180 horsepower, but lots of quiet torque for cruising the 55 MPH highways.

My first Police car in '74 was a '72 Ford Galaxy. It was rude and crude, but the old thing took everything I threw at it. It had well over 100K miles when the city retired it, and it sold at auction really quick. Many here that are close to my age know that automobiles have come a long way in a short period of time. It's like my dear old Dad used to say, "They don't build them like they used to, but ain't you glad".

My Dad would have loved that! He was always partial to station wagons and El Caminos.

We always had full size GM sedans, because my dad got them as company cars and would buy them when the company replaced them with new. I learned to drive in an Olds Delta 88, probably a 1973 model. We towed our 21-foot Starcraft ski boat with that car, and took some epic family road trips for summer vacations.

Hi Folks,

The car I had to drive when allowed to drive was a 1962 Rambler Classic stationwagon. Aluminum straight six with a wooping 2 horsepower in my estimation. Awful car and soured me so much on American Motors that I declined to interview with them when graduating from Florida Technical University (Now called University of Central Florida)....

Except our car was what I call Monkey Vomit Green.... YUK!

I learned to drive using this one, 1963 Ford Country Squire and got my drivers license test in it. Last family vacation drive across country was in this car and that's where I learned how to understand the Rand-McNally road maps and all the notations. It was a hugeeeeeeeeeee car!!!!

My bud has a collection of old Fords including a '78 Country Squire with a 460 and dual exhaust.
His mom passed away last year at the age of 94 and had a 64 1/2 Mustang ragtop that she bought new. Possibly one of the longest-term Mustangs in the country with the original owner.
