Been unplugged for 2 years. No issues. Switches to a non AGM battery that’s the bigger Lariat size so getting a full charge for me 100% of the time is welcomed.

Looks like the standard XLT cluster to me. Just has the power dist screen up in the middle.

I kind of get the point about the excessive starter use. But working on cars for 45 years probably has me somewhat stuck in the past. Things are made different with newer vehicles and function through computers and sensors so I'm still learning.
But off setting possible fuel economy or emissions...I'm just not quite sure.
I just know it bugs me.

I think the Ranger in the video is a Lariat - different cluster than our XLTs. Also, unclipping the terminal affects the Battery Management (or is it Maintenance?) System (BMS). Is it harmful? I don’t know but really, really smart engineers, like Phil, designed and tested the heck out of it for a reason.

I drive in Sport mode or just press the button on my console to turn it off - both free and I don’t have to worry about messing anything up. And, hey, who doesn’t like sport mode?

I pulled the plug a month ago and while it did disable the ass, after a week the audio system would shut down and not come back until I plugged it back in. I noticed the plug has 2 wires orange and white. I guessed that there may be different functions to the wires so I started by disconnecting the white only, and problem solved- no ass and system does not shut down.

Interesting. I installed the Auto Start Stop eliminator and while it works as advertised, Im thinking about selling it. I’ve been finding myself shift from S to D approaching lights to let the ASS do its thing.

I think Dave @AzScorpion is the mostest smarter dude who figured out that plugging in a night light to the 110v stops the ASS...and even cooler is that by unplugging it, the ASS comes right back...2019 owners are the smartest Ranger buyers because they have all the goodies that were deleted for the 2022... ?
