I reached out to Diamondback about mounting a rooftop tent and I thought I would share their response since it’s quite helpful.

A tent set up that we had displayed at some shows in the past was the CVT Shasta
Standard Summit.

Rather than using a rack with crossbars, we opted to install the tent
using a Tent Mount Kit manufactured and sold by FrontRunner
Outfitters. You can check out the specific product we used here:
https://www.frontrunneroutfitters.com/en/us/front-runner-tent-mount-kit-tall.html

FrontRunner also offers a quick-release version of the same kit, which
can be seen here:
https://www.frontrunneroutfitters.com/en/us/quick-release-roof-top-tent-mount-kit.html

DiamondBack doesn't manufacture or distribute a tent mounting
solution, but that is something we plan on tackling at some point in
the future.

For more information on overlanding with a DiamondBack, check out our
friend Mike's youtube channel, Last Line of Defense. He goes over his
setup, and some different racks he tried out with varying levels of
success. Here's the first in a series of videos he did on overlanding:

Please don't hesitate to let me know if you have any other questions.

Thanks for the info. I really like the quick release but they still need a rack mounted to the Diamondback as shown in the video? Can you provide a link to that as well?

I have to comb through that guys videos, I’ve watched them before. And what I specifically remember is that the first rack he installed couldn’t handle the dynamic load while trail running and all four support brackets BROKE and his entire RTT rig fell off the back of his truck.

I've watched Mike's video several times in the past and understand which part of Frontrunner'r rack he uses. What I'm curious about is the other video from Frontrunner showing their quick disconnect RTT mount which is set onto another type of rack that they don't say anything about. I thought these RTT mounts were to bypass the rack altogether or am I mistaken? It appears a type of rack interface still needs to be mounted to the Diamonback cover first.

yes, I believe they’ll mount directly to the cover, which is exactly what I’m looking for.
