Hey guys, I am finally enjoying my truck again. Well was.
Not long after I purchased the truck used I began experiencing some oddities with the classic 10rsh***y. First included some odd shifting behavior. The truck didn't seem to want to downshift when it needed to. Occasionally it would give a light kick. I had the dealer do the pcm/tcm reflash while I was doing an unrelated warranty repair. After I got the truck back and Pennsylvania hit a cold snap, I went to go for a late night drive. Truck shifted into drive just fine, went to pull out of the driveway and it came to a dead stop and just revved up, nothing sat for about 20 seconds then the truck decided to move. The transmission began to slip for the next 100 yards until it decided it wanted to be a transmission again. Called the dealer, brought it in and 3 weeks later with no loaner I finally got it back with a redone transmission and a new CDF. It seemed amazing again, shifted normally, didn't slip in the cold (big deal when you get them late night fire calls) all seemed good.
Until now. Roughly 1000 miles later it seems to be acting up again. Yesterday, backing into my parking spot at work, the transmission seemed to have a delayed shift, it did this a couple times (million point turn) and would feel like it wanted to stall. The truck seemed to bog down then pick back up immediately. Didn't think much of it. Got a work call a few hours later, jumped into the truck made it to the redlight and started creeping up to make my turn. (The truck's clutch fan was still on so I couldn't hear then engine much) it seemed a little "slow" I figured the truck was still cold. Proceeded to stop and wait to go then, BAM , felt like I got rear ended, truck jerked forward and stopped again. There's no way the truck could have shifted out of first as I wasn't moving much, maybe one car length. It proceeded to drive just fine the rest of the day.
Then today. Truck drove like normal all day. Not a hiccup until I clocked out of work. Proceeded to drive home and at roughly 45-55mph the truck shifted HARD into 8th. Same jerk feeling of getting rear ended the first time. I slowed down for the car in front of me then got back into it. The truck firmly kicked down into 7th (harder than normal but not as hard as before) then got moving. All was fine again.
So this brings me to my question. Am I in trouble again and have you guys had any troubles after your repair?
Symptoms:
HARD shifts and jerks: as stated in the story
Seems sluggish when cold (not sure if normal)
Truck can be slow to take off from a stop: Either takes off like it would want to peel tire or stutter/delay and then surge to a go like heavy boost lag. (best explained as dumping the clutch on an awd car then mashing the throttle)
Shift delay from slowing down then quickly getting back going ( not sure if programmed this way)
