Apparently 37% of Ranger Raptors sold are in the Philippines.

Ok, kinda weird. But part of the reason is because of the way pickups are taxed in the Philippines, which makes the Raptor relatively cheap compared to other countries.
Although we over pay for Ford vehicles here. I saw where they sold 10,000 Raptors sense its release. Think about how many Everest and rangers have sold sense 2015. Seems pretty good for an asian driven market. The Territory( which is a joint Ford China car) is back ordered for months right now. Ford Global is back ordered over 120 people for that unit.

Did you hear about DTI increasing tax by 100,000 on all imports. I dont understand what they are doing, it was confusing to me. Something about domestic car factories suffering, does the Philippines even make a major production car? Sounds like another money grab to me, just another tax they can make money from. Do you understand it more?

Thanks, never heard about it until you brought it up. Had to look it up:

It does sound like a money grab.

I'm guessing lenient export laws.

Yup, sorta. It's likely a combination of low taxes in the Philippines on utility vehicles (including pickups) plus free trade agreements within ASEAN (Association of South East Asian Nations), which the Philippines and Thailand (where the Ranger Raptor is built) are a part of.

Holy shit!! in Norway we pay 71 000 euro but only with two seats, to get the rear seats we probably have to pay around 30 000euro tax fee.

But still the Raptor is very popular in Norway as company car, but than if you use it as compny car you can reduce tax.

About same in Finland. 58680€ price + 41304,99 tax for grand total of 99984,99€. That without any accessories, delivery charges or dealer charges.

With some light changes, added air suspension (to put the gross weight over 3500kg), and with mandatory speed limiter to 80km/h (80 is max allowed speed, 89 is hard speed limit with the limiter) you qualify to light commercial vehicle and avoid that tax. But then again, you need to pay for the modifications....

Middle option is the "Van" from which you need to remove the back seats and cover the installation place with plywood & upholstery. Maximum legal speed is 100km/h but not limited with speed limiter. Then you get the car for 64380€ (price after said modifications) with lower tax of 12059,68€.. so a two seater for 76439,68€.

All in all you "pay for speed and/or seating", the car is same outside of papers. I chose not to pay, so I'll be driving at 80km/h @ 120km/h roads.
