I got a Scangauge 2 today. I played around with it a little bit after work this evening. I noticed a few weird things.

1) My boost reading was usually a negative number unless I really got on the throttle.
2) At idle the throttle position sensor was reading around 15%

Any suggestions on what metrics I should be paying attention to, or custom PIDs I should be reading?

It seems ok. I’m not thrilled with how I have it mounted. I think I’m going to have my friend 3D print me something to attach it in the same place but at a slight upward angle.

1. A negative number can be less negative (closer to 0) than unboosted vacuum, so the turbo is still doing its job.
2. 0% would flow no air and kill the engine.

That makes sense. Thanks.

I have an UltraGauge - It's not a bad little gadget. ~$80 bucks on Amazon. What I wish for, more than anything though, is an OBD2 round boost gauge showing, at the very least vacuum/boost in numbers and ideally a sweeping needle style readout. Have not found anything like that as of yet!

So far I’m monitoring battery voltage because I’m planning on installing a second battery soon and I want to see what voltages the battery runs at in different conditions.
Engine water temp.
Transmission fluid temp.
Current mpg.

I use Torque Pro on my phone (Android only though). All you need is a Bluetooh OBD2 port reader (I have a Veepeak one, $11 off Amazon), and the app is $5. You can customize what gauges you want shown on your phone, and it works well with a simple phone mount.

I have heard of ways to have Torque Pro getting displayed through Android Auto as well, but that will be a future project.

I use my Auto Agent 2. Uses app to data log and monitor. I am a Technician on EZLynk so I can share datalogs with my self basically. I do know that if I run the auto start stop it can mess with the link and give me weird readings on certain parameters.

I though about doing something like that. But I’d forget the tablet in the truck and get my windows broken in 2 seconds. But that looks way more useful.

I guess this all depends on your use and environment...my truck is never than a few steps away from me and the tablet is meant to be a semi permanent fixture. If I really had to park at say, the airport (which I'd avoid by taking Uber), I can take the tablet out.

The cool thing about this setup is that it allows me to create the gauge template like this custom design I created. I can then copy it and put it on a different page to display different parameters. And this is practically endless. Lifestyle Overland has a great video on this but using a different OBD tool...If you have an Android, you can set it up exactly like his Toy...
