Hi Alex

My take is that it is a Helmholtz tuner for induction noise reduction.

Enjoy it while you can, rumored to be high on the next wave of decontenting, it's a truck so a little bit of cold start NVH is healthy, removing it will be complimentary to the fan and HP pump sounds, in 3 part harmony. ;)

I was looking at this piece, I cant figure out if its just for sound dampening or what. Im pretty sure its not for water capture bc there is no drain for it.
EDIT: This is a Bi turbo Engine

Until you open it, it's a rectangle box made out of plastic with a red circle around it.

Do you think it has any performance benefit at all, or just for sound?
my honest guess is some sort of accumulator type device to even out the airflow.
another angle of the pic looks like it has a second attach point to the duct.
It does have an upper and lower connection, the only thing that can travel through it is air. Unless I drown the unit in a river or something.

It’s a sound dampener for intake air. Reduce noise upon accel

That engine isn’t in America. Most won’t know.

I don't know what that is, but I would like to have the engine hooked to it.
