Anyone else have problem with Wildpeaks?

So this weekend I took a 300 trip to my dad’s house and towed a car back for him, a 2007 Corolla using a tow dolly from U-Haul. The truck handled great as far as pulling, even through hill, however the ride was miserable!!! Severe shaking at anything over 65. I get vibration with these tires normally but have been managing, but this was insane. I had aired up to 40 as well.

When I get to my dads town, I had a local shop balance all the tires, they said they were a little off but nothing too bad.

Fast forward to my trip back, on the rougher, not as well kept sections of the highway my ride was miserable again. Anything over 70 and truck would vibrate. Everything in my seats, including rear seats was shaking. No load this time.

I’ve had these tires balanced 3 times now and same issue.

I don’t think it’s the truck and here’s why, when I bought it new, with the stock 18” STX rims and Hankook tires I took it on a 500 trip and the ride was great.

Mods: Aside from these tires: 17” Ford Sport rims, eibach front struts set at 3”.

alignment is perfect and been verified.

My only conclusion is the tires, unless the front lift somehow screwed things up.

Sorry forget to mention, stock shocks. I did have eibach shocks on and to me it felt worse so I went back to stock

Sometimes mixing shock types will have results like you’re seeing. I would match the rears and see if that isn’t the culprit. It does sound like wheel hop and the softer factory would hop way easier. More damping is probably the remedy

I did have the eibach on the rear and had vibrations which is why I went back to stocks. It helped a tiny bit. Wonder if the rough country ones would be a good balance between stock and eibachs as far as firmness?

Can't say on that one. What tires are they? Could be a contributor depending on pressure you're running them at.

Even adding a few hundred pounds in the bed can help too. We the load you were hauling level or pulling up on the hitch?

Ive had 3 sets of Wildpeaks, still have a set on my wife's SUV and have never had a problem with any of them, my favorite AT tire by far.

Can't say on that one. What tires are they? Could be a contributor depending on pressure you're running them at.

Even adding a few hundred pounds in the bed can help too. We the load you were hauling level or pulling up on the hitch?

Dealer should be doing this test then and determine exactly where this originated from. Could be any number of things seeing all that. Could be center bearing bind and needs a shim or out of balance driveshaft. But you will never know without them testing and then fixing what’s wrong. This should still be warranted

wouldn’t they just blame the fact that I changed tires? The stock tires seemed fine on my first long trip

If you google that tire and “balancing”, you’ll get quite a few hits. Maybe you’ve got a bad set.

Wish I did. Sold them. Wish I knew someone in Vegas with stock rims/tires to test out

I've had no problems with mine. Sounds like they still may be out of balance.

Have a reputable shop in your area do a " road force balance " .

This. These balancers have a heavy drum that puts a load on the wheel/tire assembly while it's being balanced. They can detect things like a tire that is out-of-round or has a slipped belt, etc.
