Beer is a hobby of mine. My wife and I have traveled thousands of miles all over the world, for beer.

One of our favorite spots, is the Brewdog brew pub located below the Royal Mile in Edinburgh Scotland.

We were unsuccessful in obtaining a bottle of Tactical Nuclear Penguin (a 32% ABV 64-proof Imperial Stout), but we did get to do a vertical of several bottlings of their "Dog: series of 16.1% Imperial Stouts brewed with Naga chilis...

We multi-tasked.

We did the full Scotch Whisky Experience, including dinner in the restaurant. I think that is where I truly fell in love with the Islay Region...

Nathan 289, I know this is a beer thread, but Lagavulin 16 is a favorite Islay of mine, and Laphroaig 10 is a good fallback.

Tonight, I'm having a wee dram of Port Charlotte Heavily Peated Islay, served neat in a proper Glencairn glass...

The best beer I have ever had was a dunkelweizen made by the Furstenberg brewery in Germany.
I was staying in Danaueschingen for work and tried some of the local brew.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/FĂĽrstenberg_Brewery

The counts (later princes) of the House of FĂĽrstenberg first received a brewing right in 1283.[3][1] The brewery began its transition into a large brewery in the 18th century, when Anton Egon, Prince of FĂĽrstenberg-Heiligenberg began construction of a large brewery at the present-day site in Donaueschingen.

As you can see, the brewery has some serious experience in brewing beer. I'm still trying to get the dunkel here in the states.

Have you gone to Kilchoman yet?

I'm lucky enough to live 3 hours from the hop capital of the world, Yakima Valley, Wa..

We get some great beers.. I prefer Bale Breaker as one of my favorites.. brewery in the middle of hop fields.

Hi Folks,

Wife went so far as to paint a picture of the Pacifico sign for our bar/outdoor kitchen. Along with her drunk birds collage...

I bet we've got a few Beer Enthusiasts (beer nerds is more like it) on the forum.

I mainly drink west coast ipas now, but my favorite styles are probably gueze, american wild ale, and RIS (I enjoy Americanized versions as well).

I'm sitting on a 2013 Cantillion Gueze right now that I'll crank open at the 15-20 yr mark but otherwise mostly aging a few other gueze and RIS that I like to drink after 1-2 years.

Love that serving tray Phil. I've got one like it that was my grandfather's from when he worked at Olympia Brewing Company in the 50s.

The Russian Imperial Stout is my favorite style of beer, although I am also quite fond of American Imperial Stouts...and Porters...and Imperial Porters...and Winter Warmers...and Imperial Winter Warmers. I have learned to like some of the more serious Irish Dry Stouts, as well as really big Belgian Quadrupels. And Oktoberfest beers somehow taste better when drinking them at Oktoberfest in Munich... :)
