The same warranty price that they increased when they found out that ford was paying for part of the repair?
Yes which is very interesting the only reason I slightly believe them is that when I called another dealership as mentioned earlier in this thread and this time stating I have Ford assistance they also jacked up the original quote. It seems Ford charges more for the transmission if it is done under warranty.

Here is how much it should cost this is the official ford parts online store for a brand new transmission. ($5.9k)

https://parts.ford.com/shop/en/us/t...automatic-transmission-(at)-p-kb3z7000b?pdp=y

Dealership told me Ford’s warranty price is $8.9k which is an insane markup that negates the 40% help from Ford assistance.

I’m confused. You said you paid $4200 out of pocket. Was that just the transmission or the entire job?

Yeah seriously. I would actually consider reporting it to Ford. I have never seen it the case where a warranty job pays more than CP work.

I did have Ford customer service/warranty make note of the price charge from dealership and price online. I was going to report, but to be honest I'm just glad to have it over with and got it at the price range I expected.

BTW for anyone needing a new transmission for some reason the new one is being listed for $2.9K right now seems to be a pricing error as remanufactured is still at $5.3k.

Ford paid 4500 of mine and I covered the remaining $2200 last year. That was 16k miles ago. Shifts amazing and like butter now. But its still new. Doing fluid changes every 30k now.

Wow I thought I had a good deal. From your post history it seems yours was at 75k. Did you have any extra warranties?

Was it rebuilt or replaced with a remanufactured or new transmission?

Nope warranty was gone. I take all my trucks to 200k and do my own maintenance, no extended warranty I said…. Yeh.

New replacement unit. Took a few weeks, but based on the quality of shifts I trusted it again. It is pretty seamless now. Mild confusion at times like most 10 speeds. But smooth unless I floor it then its firm.

I have had a canned SCT tune since around 40k. Definitely an improved shift strategy over oem. So I could have a minor improvement there.

I know the feeling, the Ford tech that replaced my engine dinged my hood from the inside out from putting the hood struts through an opening in the hood frame, on both sides no less. I mentioned it when I took the truck back for a clunk caused by them not putting any nuts on the trans mount. Thought they would have had their paintless dent repair (PDR) guy fix it, nope. Was close to closing so I just left since the advisor wasn't there when I got it. Sometimes it's more of a pain to complain.

I see it whenever I dry the truck from a wash and it upsets me all over again. So I may take it in since I have an AC stepper motor clicking and ask for a PDR quote to fix it to remind them what they did. We'll see what I do.

My new transmission has been in the truck for a couple of weeks now, but so far, so good. My new job has me driving mostly highway speeds for about 60 miles round trip. When it's warm, it shifts like the original did before the issues I had. Cold can have some noticeable shifts like the older transmission designs. Too soon to tell if there will be issues.

Same comment for me but mine was June 2024.

Something I've noticed with my new transmission is a whirring sound kind of like a vacuum when I'm in 4th or 5th gear and accelerating. Ocasionally I hear it around 9th gear as well. Is this normal? I don't remember hearing this before.

Check your fluid levels or bring it back and complain about it. The 4th gear noise is what caused me concern the week before it failed. Mine doesn’t make any sounds now.

Yours could be low or over filled slightly. That can cause an odd noise.
