I know, I know, I was on here for my window's deflectors and after 3 months of hot summer weather, they adapted. Thank you for the recommendations of 'patience'. My new issue is with my new 2022 Tremor ('build' Post coming soon....the week I was defending my dissertation, it arrived....guess where my focus was?!)

But today I need help with a Weathertech Bug Deflector purchased third party on AMZN. As you can see from the attached photos, the deflector does not match up with the fasteners in the rubber gasket, it over hangs the side of the hood above the headlamps, and seems to be deeper than the rubber gasket.

I called Weathertech, and the rep told me the Sku# was correct for the application of a 2019-2022 Rangers.

My question is has anyone who has installed this bug deflector (not the front end protector, this one has the elevated lip, two diff. products) and read the installation instructions that say the deflector should line up 'perfectly' w the fasteners or match the rubber gasket? I'm not worried abt the sides sticking out unless it plays Adele at 65 mph (which is all I drive now!)

Thanks for your professional & polite responses (pretend you are Phil S.!) Okay, let it go.....

Bill, have you tried contacting Amazon to see if you can get a replacement? I'd tell them that you contacted Weathertech and the SKU # is correct so it looks like it could be a defective one. They're usually really good about replacing tuff so hopefully that works for you.

Like Steve @IdahoRanger I have the AVS II and it fit perfect and I didn't even have to adjust the hood latch.

The problem with buying Weathertech via Amazon is that it's sold via a 3rd party, for basically the same price as Weathertech would charge.
Amazon may (usually pretty good about returns) back it up, but you might have to go thru the company that sold it.
In the case of Weathertech, small print near the price will indicate "sold by" and "ships from", and list the companies name.
Dealing with Weathertech directly, you would have no problems at all...I have delt with a defective part from them in the past, and they shipped out a replacement the day I contacted them.

Lately I've found that going through the manufacturer is usually the same price as Amazon. But I haven't had any trouble returning items back to Amazon and they offer free return shipping where many others charge for this. I've had to occasionally ask for a supervisor to get the return done but often the customer service rep handles this without any problems. As much as I dislike Amazon there are some items I will buy from them because of their return/replacement policy.

Never buy anything from a 3rd party on Amazon - almost certain to be a knockoff. If price is the same and you can wait, order straight from manufacturer. If Amazon is listing item and is selling direct, I order when significantly cheaper or I'm too impatient to wait.

If you can't get the bug deflector to fit and can return it would recommend AVS Bugflector II. Quality materials, perfect fit and attaches with fasteners under the hood...no tape.

That really was one of the easiest installs I've done in a while, well except for the damper. :giggle: I think it took me longer to open the box and get all the parts out then it did to instal it.

I had a lot of strength when I installed the Damper but after using it don't have the strength to uninstall it so it's a keeper! :like:

EDIT: my bad I have the AVS II deflector.

Hmmm, mine lined up fine and also got it on Amazon. I was able to attach to the correct locations with the fasteners provided.

BTW, love the Mustang in the background!

I think I will be buying the same as yours. It appears cheaper, but more importantly seems to fit better per this forum.
My wife says TY for the comment on her car. We just put it in the garage this week to get the paint redone, new convertible top and get shocks which don’t Jack-hammer your body when we hit an ever-present pothole in CT. I think the tag sale junk in the garage, would look great in your garage!!

Dave-
I agree with you and IdahoRanger the AVS may be a better fit. When I contacted the “seller “ on AMZN, guess what?! It’s Weathertech. I’m trying to send it back, but purchased the AVS one already. I bet, alike my snafu with Blackhorseoffroad, some knucklehead mid-labeled this product. In that case, BHOR had to stop all shipments and found several more roll bars mislabeled. BTW it has been ~ 75-80, low humidity here on the northeast. R u missing our summers yet? We are making submarines again; all is well except we r still ‘blue’ and pretty soon wind mills will block our view of Long Island!

Steve-
Funny the seller IS Weathertech! I went with the AVS version. Thx for your feedback.

I have been wanting to buy the Armordillo AR Pre-runner grille Guard which the best price was $702.00 (but with a $40. shipping charge) When I found it at CarId they cut it to the $500’s but added a $265.00 s&h cost totaling near $1k. Finally after 2 months, I found it on AMZN for $702.00 & free shipping! I have Prime, but not sure if that helps. AMZN has its downfalls, but I am like a kid looking through a sears catalog just before Christmas 50 years ago!!

I have a Weathertech unit that I got directly from Weathertech. Perfect fit, no issues installing although you have to loosen the rubber seal on the hood and the bug deflector fits between the hood and the gasket so it's a little tricky.
Possibly the wrong unit was put in the box either by Weathertech or the Amazon seller.

My Weather Tech fit fine on my 2019. I never buy from a 3rd party, it would seem that some 3rd party sellers are only out to make money and do not care if what they sold you works or does not work.
