These Roof Rails look pretty slick... https://www.powerfuluk.com/vehicles...ord-ranger-2012-on-roof-rack-rails-black.html

These OEM style rails should allow for any typical (yakima, thule, etc.) crossbars to grab on in order to mount just about anything.

Check out the installation video with these goofballs:

There isn't a lot of action in the video for the first 4 minutes, but some of the commentary is funny enough if you speak the Queen's English and have had a few drinks.

I've brought in a set of OEM WildTrak rails from the UK and plan on installing then as soon as they're back from the powder coaters.

The OEM cross bars are a lot more difficult to find, suspect I'll adapt a set of US market Ford rails or import an aftermarket solution.

1st rail is on. One major difference is the NA market Rangers have an aluminum finishing rail rather than the rubber/vinyl shown in the video.

Two studs retain the rail with a strip of emblem 2-sided tape between them.

The OEM Ford "Euro" rails have under roof brackets that at least in the front, can't be used, maybe Ford added extra stiffening to the tops of the A pillars??

The truck will look goofy for a day or so with only the one rail. Oh well.

Did find a possible cross bar solution on Amazon. Should have hands on by the end of the month.

Not great light, but proof of progress!

Powder coater did great job with color. The rails I've ordered are bright, might have them taken to gloss black. Gotta see them 1st.

And second rail is on!!

I know it't not everyone's path, but works for me and my need to carry ladders and other "long things" without a utilitarian ladder rack.

Looking forward to getting the cross bars and fully functional.

And the Ranger goes to work!

Cross bars from Amazon are dead straight, curved would probably be stronger and better follow curve of roof

One surprise was how much wider the Wildtrak rails are in the front. About 2", had to narrow the rear rail to get it to fit.

Next task is to make some rail stops to better tie down and locate the ladders and such.

How wide are the racks at the outer edges?

I'm away from the truck for a week, will take a tape measure to it once I get back to it.

how long did it take you to install the rails?

Couple hours a side. 1st rail took longer as I worked out how to get the headlining out of the way

like @SOHK_Alumni ... one side at a time. Had difficulty with how the bolts aligned on the inside of the cab. there are 2 layers of metal ... had to find a way to make the access hole bigger with one of the front bolts. So, long project longer, I'll do the other side another time. Liking that it's a fairly low profile rail.

Yep, and avoiding the air bags doesn't help. Try a 1/4" pilot hole from the top, then a 1" hole saw with a longer 1/4" bit from the cab side using the 1st hole as a guide. Protect the air bag with a bit of sheet metal.
