Hey, I posted this in the California section because I don't need or want a wrong (coast /environment) solution.
Rats chewed on my new foam engine cover! I am not sure I would have seen it except I had painted it.
I went the the web first, and was disappointed in 90% of the articles, 90% focused on long term storage or garaging it!
I agree with the peppermint idea, and I'm thinking mothballs, and since I am vacationing for a week I put a bit of wolf urine, yes it is a thing,

to stop coyotes if you didn't know.
Anybody have a trick that works?
I am in La Mesa San Diego, but back to a small long wild area, and their are lots of critters!!!!

I don't spray under the hood, I spray the ground around the front of the vehicles a couple of times a week. I don't use it at all in warmer weather.

I can't stand the smell of moth balls. Makes me think of old people.
And the 78 year old me asks what is wrong thinking of older people....:sunglasses:

Did more research after posting and it is seriously not allowed. Has to be in a closed container, and not a heated area!!

Thanks.
65 year old me hangs around high school students, who can't imagine graduating in 1976!!

Nothing, I like old people. It's just that in my youth moth ball smell only came when I was in older people's homes or even just their clothes. No intense offended.

I was having mice problems in my shed munching on stuff including my Harley seat. Wifey says she heard that Irish Spring soap deters critters. So I took a bar of it and took a knife and shaved it all up spreading it all around the shed. A couple days later, I went to get the Harley out, and the f''ing mice gathered up a bunch of the soap shavings and deposited them all over the engine. Total fail!

They are bastards no matter where you are. They have chewed on my battery blanket on my Ranger and the foam injector covers on my Boss 302. Time for a spray foam seal up and poison in my barn.

those specific rats are walking dead anyways.
There should be a warning for them on that cover that ingesting the foamy rubber causes cancer.
They are all bloated and bunged up trying to shit out their bowels full of rubber foam right now.
