Carplay on my head unit started working intermittently around 20k miles. Around 25k went out completely. Bluetooth and normal stuff works, just no carplay. Both plugs in the center console tray will charge a phone but no Carplay. Always hesitant to take to dealer for warranty replacement because I usually have trim pieces that are broke/don’t fit right after the fact. Any ideas?

Have also done the “hard reset” on the head unit. Forget the exact procedure now it’s been a few weeks.

If mine was doing this, and assuming you have rebooted your phone, I would either pull the appropriate fuses or disconnect the battery for a short time and let all the hardware reset. If you disconnect the battery you will need to reset the driver window auto down/up feature.

Take it to the dealer. They have probably seen this many times and it is probably a simple fix.

You might try, easily prying out the Hub Module and reseating the Mini-USB on the back.
There are 4 -wires in that cable. (2) Power & Ground (Charging) & (2) Data Transfer (+/-)
Plus, while its out, turn it upside down and tap on hard surface to ensure nothing (debris) is inside of ports.
Have you removed phone from truck and resynced it, I had to do that with one of the sync updates.

Tried every suggestion on here and nada, just connected truck headunit to my wifi and a new update popped up, trying download now. I had tried to check for updates while at work about a week ago and hooked the truck up to my phones hotspot, it said the update was current. Browsing around ford’s website for sync 3 troubleshooting and it said that mobile hotspots would not work to download updates. Truck seems to be struggling to download over wifi. May have to find an old usb laying around somewhere to install from laptop to truck.

Still need to try prying the usb box, will give that a shot if this update doesn’t fix the problem. Also tried my girlfriend’s iPhone 27 pro max or whatever the latest one is. Mine is old and still has a home button but that didn’t activate carplay either. Both of our phones used to work on it. Also removed our phones from the carplay in truck and removed truck from carplay on both phones. Nothing so far but thanks for the tip.

Did not see that this was addressed so just asking if you are using a genuine apple cable or one that you know for sure is good for both charging and data…

Mention already but super important is using MFi Certified Apple Products. Anything else will be issues. Recently my syncing was not handshaking. I rebooted my 7+ iphone multiple times and also unpaired and repaired with the truck countless times. Then all of a sudden it stopped. Pair right up now. That’s will all the latest revisions too.

I’d like if that was the issue, tried Apple brand cord and I use a $30+ Anker charger, best one out there that I’ve tried.

So you got the delete phone from CarPlay and probably multiple times before it magically stops! But do upgrade the head unit before doing that exercise
