Ac odor when first turns on...Phil help....

I have the same, it smells on the first time the AC comes on and goes away after a 30sec. It happens when I replaced the filter at 20K. There is a thread here saying that some filter comes with smell and it's on the paper being used. I'm using OEM filter. Someone mentioned that the filter had baking soda!!!

Yep, put a box of Arm & Hammer Baking Soda in your refrigerator to absorb odors; the chopped onions and baking potatoes you forgot about. Change monthly.

Well was gone but started her up this afternoon and it was there again. She goes in the 27th so I will update you all then ......

Which proves there's mold growing inside the ducts and it's not the filter. Hopefully they can fog the system and kill all the spores.

It's very hard to believe thats what's happening....but I guess hopefully it's an easy fix.....was that caused by them replacing the blend door ?

I think you said it wasn't like this before they replaced the blend door. If so and it started right after you got it back it's most likely not mold but the sealant. So just tell them that it smells, you replaced the cabin air filter and it only went away for a week now it's back. Hopefully they should be able to figure it out.

We can all speculate all day long and eventually one of us will get it right lol I'm sure once you tell them what you've done and they smell it they'll know exactly what it is. ?

The problem is it only does it once in awhile when it starts up so with my luck when I take it there it will not do it

Well, here's my update ...I drove it in for my 8am appointment.....I did NOT turn on ac. So when they did they smelled it. They checked for mold ..found nothing and no water. Sprayed some deodorizer type of spray in the vents and said give it a week or 2 and see if it comes back. That was wed. Haven't smelled it since. Let's wait and see......he did say if I had mold it would show on cabin filter. But I just changed it 3 weeks ago....

Well I can tell you it's back. So she will be going back in soon to get fixed. Prob take shit apart and find a pinched something in there.....we will see....
