Alas it was me, I was listening to a 2 hour podcast discussing the pros and cons of installing a tailgate damper and I didn't notice you, until you drove off...

I expected some kind of acknowledgement. But no, he just kept looking straight ahead at the stoplight.
Sometimes an asshole slips through the cracks and buys one.
Or he was borrowing it from a friend who didn't have time to explain.
Or his wife just ripped him a new ass for something trivial and right now he's in his sociopathic safe space.

Have to admit I waved to @OrangeStreak when we were in a parking lot, then we parked and compared Rangers. Maybe because I'm pro damper, and pro wave, but I'm good enough, I'm smart enough, and doggone it, people like me.

Back when I had an STi, I said I don't wave back at Subaru owners... One guy literally asked why I bought my car. Lulz...
Some buy a vehicle because it is cool.

Others buy one to be cool.

He didn't wave at me.
I was kinda surprised.
Classic car guys always give a classic car guy a thumbs-up.
Truckers do it. Bikers do it. Even people passing by each other slowly on a quiet private road.
I mean, there isn't a lot of us 5g Ranger folks out there. When one of them saw me in one of them, I expected some kind of acknowledgement. But no, he just kept looking straight ahead at the stoplight.
because its a ranger to many people its your standard run of the mill pickup truck.... i never got a wave in my tacoma either the only thing i got was photos taken of it because of the theme my truck was based off. i never got waves in my si either and that was a rare one to see around here! to see a 10th gen coupe si was super rare! but nope they just ignored me so it was meh the only place ive gotten others attention is when riding loads will wave or give a head nod welll unless you ride a harley then its rare they wave to something other then a harley....

That has always been my experience as well here in PHX.

when i drove a yj jeep a few folks would wave. the jeep wave and the stupid ducks kinda make me gag. it was cool before it was social media marketed. i see several heeps around town that have at least 20 of the ducks all on the dash but its clear the heeps never seen an unpaved mile.

on the texas back roads and ranch roads every guy in a pickup, tractor or other ag related machine does the rancher "wave". most of the older folks do as well. makes it real easy to spot the folks that "aint from round here"

Thread reminds me of the Seinfeld episode iirc correctly jerry pulls along side someone he knows picking their nose, had a clowning bud who would fake having his finger up his nose if he pulled up along side someone doing that.

This guy would simulate it with a finger moving up and down the side of his nose. But maybe instead of a ranger wave to be different and show our pedigree we can do the Ranger "pick".
I knew a guy in Vancouver who lost the tip of his index finger down to the knuckle. As a joke, he’d set it against a nostril to make it look like he was digging away. It always got a reaction, then a chuckle when he moved it away. :D?

He may have been embarrassed that his truck did not look as good as yours.

Back with my 4G ranger I'd get waves all the time from other 4G owners. The 5G just has no 'heart & soul' yet. I'm guessing most owners are new to the Ranger world and it'll take time for them realize what they've got and acknowledge others on the road.
The biggest 'wavers' out there have to be Volvo drivers. With my old 240, even the drivers of brand new XC70's wouldn't just wave, they'd stop my in parking lots and yell out the window at me and ask me the year and my mileage. That old 240 wagon was the best pick-up truck I've ever owned.

I only wave to Rangers with graphene and dampers, or on the way to the dump. =p

I at least give a two finger wave off the top of the steering wheel to other Rangers.

That guy might have been deep in thought about how he'll make his house payment with all the mods he's recently done (assuming he's a forum member, of course).
