Just acquired this new toy. 1950 Ford Custom Deluxe .
100 HP V8 3SPD .... 0-60MPH in just 18 seconds. Braking depends on leg strength.
No A/C , power steering , power brakes or even FM on the radio.( AM takes minutes to warm up)
Boy are we spoiled nowadays!
The Ranger is three times as fast and 900 pounds heavier, but this thing just charmed its way into my shop.
Just bought it yesterday....

Hi Floyd,

My cousin in Arkansas City Kansas had one just like this in black. He was a hot rodder and had dual glass packs. We used to "drag the strip and pull in for a beer"....A&W rootbeer...he was just 16 at the time...

best,
Phil

VERY COOL! My parents had a '49 that was black and had the big whitewalls too. It had a built flathead and 3 on the tree. It was my mom's daily driver. People would rev at her and away she would go. I still remember a nice "bark" from the tires as she banged through the gears with a big grin on her face. I guess it runs in the blood. I just took the '66 out today to "play".

That's just what this car is for now... to remind us of our past and maybe bring a smile to our faces!;)

Beautiful!?

My Dad has a '51 shoebox. Love the flathead. I drove it to a car show with him and was amazed at the hills it could pull in 3rd without downshifting.
Definitely not a car where you can have a cell phone in hand while turning a corner. :p

Gotta love a shoebox!

You gonna hotrod it, restore it, or drive it?
I plan to show it for a year or so, it is restored to a great level.
I feel morally compelled to keep it stock, ....
but part of me can't help but dream about a disc brake conversion with steering gear mods and electric power steering,
I look over in the corner at a brand new 5.0 engine with a T-5 and a custom clutch. then add the 8" rear end I already have, OH! and I already have a top shelf Alpine stereo system on the shelf.
All that and maybe a Classic A/C install.

That would make a great car!
I would definitely keep the exact look as pictured though... plus the skirts I have in the trunk to match the Fulton on the windshield.
Still I would hate to ruin a piece of history.... But maybe, just maybe... Time alone will tell! ;)

Total restomod gets my vote. Keep her original outside with the skirts. But P/S, P/B, windows, cruise, AC, V8, stereo, maybe even bagged?
