Just got my oil change done this weekend. 65,000. I do full synth only (I drive a lot). Rotate tires every time.

Had them check trans fluid as it sometimes drives bad at low speeds. Mechanic said its common with the trans in these trucks to need a rebuild. He told me at one point they had 3 in the shop at the same time getting trans rebuilt. Being that I am over 60k, I was not happy to hear that. Anyway, he checked fluid. Said its full but dark. Ready for a flush. I will do that after the holidays.

Otherwise, that and the very uncomfortable seat is my only complaint. Still driving well.

I only run K&N in my trucks for decades. Decided I should check that after I got back from the oil change. Glad I did. See the before and after pics.

I also check cabin filter... yikes...

My tires are getting there... gonna get road tires next. Probably in spring.

I beat the hell out of this truck. Seriously. I use it as a tool around the farm and drive high miles weekly (aprox 600miles/week). Pretty impressed overall.

I plan on keeping my miles to a max of 60k when I’m getting rid of the Ranger.
-Over the years I’ve owned 14 Fords counting my Tremor Ranger.
-2 Toyotas
-1 Chevrolet
It will be the last Ford for me with an automatic trans. If Toyota (Asin) could build a trans in the 90s that is still going today with 300k miles in it then there is ZERO reasons why Ford can’t built one today.
What will my next vehicle be? No idea… but it won’t be a Ford with an automatic trans.

Yeah, but can Toyota build a trans in 2023 that will last 300K?
Ford did it in the 90's as well as my '95 F150had 360K when I sold it.

Since Toyota waits 10-20 years to update their stuff (?) they probably built 300k trans up until very recently. I’m curious to see how the new 8 speeds they’re using do. There’s also some issues with the 8F35 trans in Fords. Its torque rating is less than the 2.0 Ecoboost that it’s typically mated with. What could wrong ?. I’m not certain that’s the issues with the 8F35 tho. A family member has 19 Edge with 57k miles that is exhibiting slam shifts and hesitation though.

Except for A government mandates and B cost. Much of which would be because of government mandates.
Don't you think they would have stuck with the nearly fully de-bugged 6 speed if they could have?

I’m fully aware that CAFE standards etc are behind the latest trends such as turbos and 10 speeds. It’s the reason why we have a plethora of CVT failures in Nissans. Even Toyota had CVT issues. I’m not arguing cost isn’t a factor either but it still boils down to poor design and consumers suffering the consequences.

All ATs ever didn't start out perfect. They evolved. Some faster than others. With the buyers as the testers to show weak points. Seldom did/do they get reimbursed for this.
If it was just CAFE it would be better. It's the unrealistic push to make all cars EVs. How much do the manufacturers want to spend on a technology that governments worldwide are actively trying to kill.
But I don't really care, mine is working fine. And I can afford to fix or replace if it becomes necessary.
Have a merry Christmas and may you and yours have good fortune in the coming year.
