5th Gen Ranger Bed Dents Easily

With only light duty use, hauling bicycles, camping gear etc, and loading in a reasonably careful manner, my bed has 3 or 4 dents.

Mid- heavy duty used would mangle this thing.

Still love the vehicle.

Any truck that has stuff tossed in over the bedsides regularly has a few dents. Next time you walk through a home depot parking lot, glance into the bed of a few work trucks. It’s called character.

I’d hate to guess how many times I’ve overloaded 60s 70s and early 80s pickups with steel til they were riding on the bump stops and not a dent. I wouldn’t dream of it in this truck

Yep. I had my truck all of 3 days when I went to get some sheets of plywood and dented the wheel well a bit. My last Ranger (a 2005) had dents in it as well from many, many trips hauling firewood. It's what it was built for.

I do agree it dents easier than older trucks but I think that is just how things are today in the attempt to reduce weight - steel panels are thinner. It's just how it is.

I guess the rigid bed liner provides more protection than I anticipated when I got mine. Not sorry after using it on the farm.

The Ranger does not have an aluminum bed. Hood, front fenders, and tailgate are all that is aluminum.

This is why truck beds are double walled, so inside bed dents don't show on the outside.
