I have a pair of Midland GTX handheld radios that I wanted to mount somewhere on or near the dash. I already have a small magnetic mount for my phone (Syncwire Phone Mount) and I really like that setup, so I was looking for something similar, maybe a windshield suction style that I can take down when it is not is use.
The issue is that the back of the radio is curved, as is the belt clip, so I'm not sure I will get a good magnetic connection with the reduced surface area.
I did see someone clipping a similar radio to a flat phone mount, which gave me this idea. I am working on a clip adapter that will slide onto the belt clip.
The current design is just long enough to fit the belt clip, and slightly tapered on the inside so the clip is held snuggly in place. It seems to work well with my current phone mount, but I have not tried it on rough terrain yet.
