Check my thread on how I did mine. But you need to deal with the ecu no longer seeing the clutch plugged in.If you google up some photos of the 2024 Ranger's engine compartment you'll see a fan mounted to the radiator.....meaning an electric fan. Several posts about "fan noise" on the 6G forums.
Seriously doubt you could adapt one to our 5G....too much to get into with wiring, sensors, puters, ect.
However, seems very easy to install an aftermarket unit, wire it separately to a simple on/off switch so you could manually turn on when needed, like hot outside temps while towing.
Been thinking of doing something like that to my 2021 to use while towing our trailer during summer months. Have dons similar to other vehicles in the past.
If I decided to add an aux. fan it would be wired independently, with a simple on/off switch, so I could run it when necessary. My Scan Gauge lll gives me very accurate coolant temps, so I could pick my own temps to use it. This leaves the OE fan and clutch alone, and no messing with the ecu/warranty/extended warranty.Check my thread on how I did mine. Sadly, we don't have a coolant temp sensor. Ours appears to measure the temp of the cylinder head. I've never seen mine move more than a degree or two around 200.If I decided to add an aux. fan it would be wired independently, with a simple on/off switch, so I could run it when necessary. Did this on two earlier motorhomes with no problems at all.
An aux really isn't needed. The stock moves a lot of air.If I decided to add an aux. fan it would be wired independently, with a simple on/off switch, so I could run it when necessary. Mine never hits above 200 while solo. But towing during hot summer days (just 2 weeks ago) in So. Carolina heading home, 95 degree days, hit 215-220 for awhile while running up grades. Goes down quick, so not too worried. But since the trans "cooler" is also tied into the system, the trans temps also go up to around the same temps.Sadly, we don't have a coolant temp sensor. Have delt with Derale products for a number of years, and this post got me to looking at their stuff again.
Temps only climb when it's hot out and the truck is under load, towing up a long grade/mountain, ect. The temps for both coolant and trans seem to stay within 10 degrees of each other, sometimes the trans goes up faster than coolant. Coolant cools quicker, but trans will come down once the grade is over and regular travel resumes. Trans will go up very quickly if you are climbing a long grade and go from the regular tow mode and drop to 6-7 gear for any length of time, still while climbing. I think the highest trans temp I hit was around 225 for a short time. I flipped back to regular tow mode, and temp dropped quickly.I haven't quite figured out that interaction. My thought is that our radiators are pretty well oversized. I never see a bump in engine temp when the trans temps go up, which they wouldn't until the radiator couldn't shed any more heat. I haven't been logging temps lately although I monitor them, I might start logging more when we start towing into the summer.
That makes sense. My scan guage shows slow temp, rises when first started and fluctuates very little compared to other vehicles Ive owned.Sadly, we don't have a coolant temp sensor. Ours appears to measure the temp of the cylinder head. I've never seen mine move more than a degree or two around 200.
