Now that we know GVWR and max payload, that should give us the curb weight.

Confirmed GVWR is 6050 lbs and confirmed payload capacity of the 4x2 model is 1840 lbs.

Using the formula Gross vehicle weight rating - curb weight = payload capacity

That means curb weight should be about 4210 lbs.

I am holding the T6 World Ranger weight as a placeholder at 4,339 lbs. Not sure if those vin tags were from a SuperCab or CrewCab which will alter the numbers a bit. I would like to see the truck come in around 4,200 lbs as it would be over 200 lbs lighter than the next truck in the segment.

Yea 4200 lbs is actually impressive without the extensive use of aluminum like in the F-150. And I wonder if the next generation Ranger will get switch to aluminum construction like the F-150 did four years ago.

Ford engineer mentioned in one of the videos that it is an economies of scale matter. Stating aluminum is very expensive. Seemed like he was implying that Ford may add some aluminum pieces here and there but Ford is not anticipating high enough sales numbers to change much from what they are doing.

That is how Jeep did the new JL Wrangler. My entire body is aluminum or magnesium except for the rear tub corners and the floorpans. They said making the entire thing out of aluminum would cost too much. My 4-door tips the scales around 4,200 lbs.

Having said that, isn't the Supercab F-150 only 4,500 lbs? That sort of puts things into perspective.

That F-150 is also made out of enough Aluminum that they claim over 700 lbs of weight savings from the previous steel version. There isn't enough Aluminum in the Ranger to make that kind of weight savings. So even at 4,200 lbs, it would be impressive.

According to Body Builders Layout book, the curb weight for a 4x4 CrewCab Ranger is 4441 lbs. Likewise, the curb weight of a 4x2 SuperCab is 4145 lbs. It’s footnoted that curb weights are based on the weight of standard equipment and thus implies that the weight of optional equipment is not included. I do not know if the weight of standard equipment is based on the XL, XLT or Lariat trim level.

i was at the dump yesterday. 2180kgs was my exit weight.
minus my fat ass at 111kgs and then whatever a full tank of fuel weighs.
Well, 18gal @ 6.2lbs/gal = 111.6lbs of fuel. 111kgs = 244lbs. 2180kgs = 4796lbs. So empty weight = 4440.4lbs.

Weighed my 2WD STX. With 3/4 tank of gas and me in it it was 4540. I'm about 180 so 4360 - gas (~80lbs) looks like 4280.
