It's been awhile since I've updated my build. Seems like a good thing to get caught up on while I watch golf. I had a list of things I wanted to get wrapped up before we went to Utah on vacation back at the end of May. The roof rack needed to be finished. I was planning on using 80/20 but went...
It's fun convincing the higherups that you need a 22,000lb gooseneck and a 2 ton truck to haul around a 299d3 with a brush mulcher on it. It's really amazing how much new equipment weighs these days. The next step is making them understand it would be much safer and easier on all the equipment...
I concur with Jason, do not get General Grabber ATX tires if you are worried about throwing rocks. My Rokblocks have gotten a workout since I put the Bronco takeoffs on.
I fabricated the cap myself. Couldn't find anything in the market that I really wanted (especially for what everyone is charging for them). The basics are taken from Ripcord's DIY GFC camper build over at Tacomaworld. Here's my build post in my Truck thread...
Thanks Mark, I should thank my wife as well, I'm terrible at taking and remembering to take pictures so these are all hers. I will definitely be adding solar to an off road camper.
It turned out well, it leaked dust a bit(what topper doesn't) and only a bit of water got in driving through heavy rain across Iowa( which I think came in through the gaping holes in the bed!). I really copied the idea from Ripcords camper build over on Tacoma world (sorry for the curse word!)...
Yeah, we have been lucky enough to visit Zion and Arches before they got swamped as well. Although our Arches trip was pretty miserable weather wise. I'm glad we got to Zion before it got real busy because I'm not sure I or my daughter would ride to well on the shuttles!
There's so many...
The National Park system also offers a free park pass to people with disabilities, which our daughter qualifies for. We always donate money in the visitor center though.
We just returned home after 11 days out in canyon country South Central Utah. We decided when we planned this trip to leave our little Burro travel trailer at home and take the easy route with airbnb. The Burro is almost 40 years old and I would be worried we would either rattle the whole...
Sorry I missed this BladeRanger. Fordegon spelled it out well. The Spcs are awesome. I have them paired with Icon coilovers, no complaints at all. I'm only running 265/70/17s at the moment so I don't have the coilovers maxed out. I was holding out for the Icon uca group buy but got antsy and...
I picked up a set of Bronco steelies a few weeks ago and finally got them put on the truck this morning. I really dig this look. My wife has horses and said the Bronco center caps looked cool so I'll roll with them!
i would agree with the mono leaf spring in the rear being the biggest issue. I drove with new shocks for a while before adding the progressive leaf pack and that definitely made the bigger difference. I will also agree with several saying that leveling the front had a very minimal impact on mpgs.
I have the Icon stage 1 kit with front coilovers and rear shocks paired with the progressive leaf springs. It's absolutely night and day difference in ride quality over my stock fx4 setup. Maybe not as many people go this route because it's a bit more expensive than the other offerings, the...
Check out Mcmaster Carr: https://www.mcmaster.com/plastics/shape~sheet-and-bar/slippery-uhmw-polyethylene-sheets-bars-and-strips/thickness~1-4/
They have about any size, shape and thickness you can think of.
I agree with madtrixter. The adjustability is fantastic, I've had mine on for a few months now and they are solid, look like they should hold up really well.
