  1. The Factory Skid Plate Is A Joke

The skid plate in my fx4 took the entire weight of the front half of my truck while it was being lifted by a rising barrier cable. Results... The tiny red mark you see is transfer from the cable coating. That's tough enough for me. If I need more than that, I'll get something aftermarket.
  2. What angle to scrape the tow hooks? Funny story involved.

Bad news on the video front: Just called the security folks. Cameras don't face that way. However, apparently I'm famous. I started the conversation with "I was involved in a vehicle incident last monday" and the guy broke in with "Holy shit, are you the guy who got launched in the air by...
  3. What angle to scrape the tow hooks? Funny story involved.

Funnily enough, I had ordered one the night before this happened. It arrived the day after it happened. :(
  4. What angle to scrape the tow hooks? Funny story involved.

I will be asking if there is a video of the incident when I collect the report. If so, I will ask for it. If refused, I have other venues to go through to get it.
  5. What angle to scrape the tow hooks? Funny story involved.

Well, the police didn't issue a citation, and specifically included that the audible alarm did not go off. I have to collect the report, then engage with some folks to "make it right". And that's really all I want out of it. Make everything whole again, and maybe consider tying the barrier...
  6. What angle to scrape the tow hooks? Funny story involved.

Ha, I wasn't going to share it with anyone until I saw the scrapes on the tow hooks, and was like "how in the hell... how high was this frickin thing to do that!?". At least not until/unless I could get a video of it. Then I'd planned more of a "here's how tough a ranger is" post rather than...
  7. What angle to scrape the tow hooks? Funny story involved.

There was an incident where a cable-net vehicle barrier came up under my Ranger, and I'm trying to figure out how high up the ass of the truck was. True story. Some places have these security devices to stop traffic and prevent people from coming or going. A few of these places have multiples...
  8. Crowdsource/fund a backseat solution

It's easy to remove; a T50 Torx and a socket set with an impact driver will get the back seat "loose". You'll have to pull the center seat belt anchor as well; I recommend you do that first, then the side seat belts, then the brackets. IIRC, I relocated the side seat belts to a bracket hole...
  9. Crowdsource/fund a backseat solution

I just pulled the backseat out in mine, and replaced the storage trays with 3/8 Black Plastic cut to the same size as the trays. Considering separating the seat back from the bottom, and reinstalling to reduce some road noise, and carpeting the plastic covers. The added floor space is...
  10. Dent Repair - Opinions

So I am irritated; we'll start there. I took some garage items to the dump today, and they had some sort of anti-covid plastic wrap barrier in the bays. As I was backing in, I heard a loud smack. Stopped, and looked. Sure enough, both the poles the plastic was in had blown over, and struck...
  11. Android Auto Unusable for Everyone?

I've noticed my phone volume is incredibly low when talking on Android Auto; it also seems to be somewhat content at using as much bandwidth as I can squeeze out of a 4G tower. That, the lack of search function for two key apps (Amazon Music and Spotify). But the phone volume is a strange...
  12. New Members Introduce Yourself!

Just drove out of state to collect this: 2019 Ranger Lariat; White Platinum Tri-Coat; Blackout package; 501A; Trailer Tow, etc, etc... Already have purchases and a DIY project lined up for it. Happy to be here! It's been a long time coming...
