The pedal definitely feels a lot softer than my 17 escape. But is more in line with my 05 F-150. But there is definitely more travel then expected and its grab point is inconsistent.

That looks extremely possible. I also found out that these holes are used to secure the optional accessory tool boxes on either side.

Just ordered a tailgate shock from Amazon. Appears to be the same setup as the links posted elsewhere but this part is Stateside next day delivery! Will confirm fitment when I get it. EDIT: was a no-go. Will try another supplier and report back.

Had a 17 Escape that did the same thing. There are a lot of variables that need to align for the stop start to function. Ambient temperature, engine temperature, engine idle load, closed loop, battery state of charge voltage, even the rear defroster needs to be off. Accy loads will also keep it...

The holes go all the way to the outside sheet metal. There is no reinforcement around them at all. Sent the pics to Steve @Bullrings as well. He said the lack of support structure is an issue. Im thinking these openings were used during corrosion dip treatment then just plugged off with caps.

Mine is a two for one consolation. Out of a 17 Escape Titanium and my old 05 F-150 XLT. Will miss how fast the Escape was but this truck is no slouch either.

I kind of wish my/the FX4 Lariat came with the all magnetic wheels like on the sport appearance package, but in an 18 inch FX4 version. No brightwork on the truck makes them visually stick out. Would ditch the raised white lettering on the tires too.
