Thank you lol.
It's been a fun project thus far.. I expect the trend will continue. Should be a fun little run around once it's done!
If/when I get around to putting a turbo on it Ill be aiming for 250ish HP to the wheels. That'll be right at the top end of whats safe for the stock clutch &...
INFINITE POWERRRRRRRRR showed up yesterday.. hell yeah.
Bringing the truck back to the garage where it'll live it's winter within the next couple weeks.. stay tuned and all that ??
The 5gs have been out long enough for all the common issues to come to light... Besides the pre 22.5 transmissions now being a somewhat obvious imminent failure point... Theres no reason to assume these trucks won't be 200k+ mile rigs as long as they get maintained and don't get trashed to death.
It's a shame the earlier tranny's are shit.
Gotta remember though.. a new tranny is 4x cheaper than a new truck.. taxes.. increased tag fees.. Insurance..
Between the price of this, a new gearset, install kit and labor.... Dude would be way better off buying a complete locking axle from Ford and DIYing it in the driveway.
Selling the stock axle would recoup a decent amount of money as well.. once there's a buyer for it.
Ooh the misfortunes caused by being a southerner lol.
I drove RWD's for years, through all sorts of terrible winter weather, and never had an issue.
Couple hundred pounds extra over the rear and knowing how to drive really works wonders..
I didn't even bother changing out of my mud tires...
Deepest apologies for no amusing exhaust video yet.. the latter half of the year got away from me unfortunately.
I ended up driving the truck back&forth to work for a week once I got it back together, and it went well enough.. kinda..
It's got a parasitic drain somewhere, which I have yet to...
Runtime is relatively easy to calculate.. figure out how many watts something runs at and then divide by total watt hours.
Mine had 550wh and my cooler uses 55 max, so if the thing ran all the time it would last 10 hours. Considering a fridge doesn't run all the time though.. i was getting a...
I had a bluetti ps54 last year and it was awesome. Sold it to a coworker to fund an upgrade to a bigger unit.. but now I believe I'm probably gonna make my own.. should end up with a much better bang/buck ratio. A couple 100ah batteries, an inverter, and a charger.. make a box to hold it all...
I mean... The thing does sit immediately behind the tire.. so it takes a beating lol. My fancypants AFE powder coated tip was bare steel after just a few months.
No need to worry about it, really. Ensuring the motor doesn't knock is.. well.. the whole reason it has a knock sensor ? it doesn't want to blow up as much as you don't want it to blow up.. it'll adjust itself.
Eeeh.. it is and it isn't. Mostly isn't IMO.. thanks to childhood hobbies.
My formative years were when the R/C world was making the leap from nitro to brushless for all out speed.. so I got to see first hand the staggering difference between combustion & its quieter alternative.. especially...
Thank you! And yeah hopefully not.. I've willingly done enough to my body that's gonna effect me long term as it is.. ?
Seems like I'm on the mend though. Just one bad day. Woke up wheezy and with a headache, headache turned itself into the sore-est legs I've ever had.. and then fever hit me...
