Looking for a convenient location to tap into a signal from the factory horn to do an aftermarket horn set.
There's no room to reach it inside the fender well, so it's a no-go there. Does anyone know the easiest place to tap into the relay panel or fuse panel to pull the signal for the new...
Brake pads should be wearing more or less evenly, as a set. If the inner pads keep wearing, there's a problem with the system. They should be "floating" when you drive normally, then engage when you step on the pedal. Ford needs to address this issue, find the problem & remedy it for you...
If you're towing or pulling hard, premium is best for performance & heavy loads where boost comes into play. It will run on 87, just not as well. With premium, the fuel economy is typically better (2-3 mpg), more power is available & it will be happier in general.
Just got my 1st oil change report from Blackstone, the fuel in oil number for the 7,000 mile oil change is 2.8%, which is .8% higher than their standard, but not too bad at this point in things. No antifreeze showing. A few numbers were higher than average, but that's to be expected for a 1st...
When towing a small trailer (900-1500#) I get about 18 (measured 17.92) on hills, freeway & around town as a mixed average. On the freeway at 75-80 (empty, with just the Leer camper shell) it's about 24 (measured actual was 24.39). This is just the last 2 tanks but seems to be about what I get...
I would say to write ARE & send some pictures of their build quality & the location on the bed as it was installed. They should make it right, send a new camper or refund your money. It's a lousy installation & as you said, poor quality workmanship.
Give them a chance to respond to the issues...
Typically, the tow vehicle needs to have a brake controller to regulate the trailer brakes. It's a unit which provides a signal to the trailer brakes & "tells" them when to apply brakes for stopping, slowing or going down hills.
My teardrop trailer has the control module inside the tongue box...
'm a bit disappointed that a truck with a 7,500# tow rating is this time consuming to wire for a simple brake controller. It seems to me Ford has done a poor job of engineering on this part of their build. It should be a 5 minute plug & play installation...
Foreign film from Japan (subtitles) called "Departures" is an excellent movie, one of the best I've seen. Not on a streaming service, but very good for loss of loved ones & a good story about people, society & death. It's the only film I've seen in which all loose ends are tied up by the end of...
1 cup flour (white or whole grain), 2 tablespoons of Portland cement (quick fix, plaster of Paris), salt, 2 tablespoons sugar. Place dry flour mix out in a jar lid. Place water container nearby. The rats will eat the flour, then they get thirsty. Takes about 6 weeks to remove all the rats in the...
Been out in the shop for a while now, working on some blades & finishing up a few from the move from Tucson. Glad I have something to do & a place to do it. All of this OCD energy has a place to go & I'm tired of the endless news cycles...
I think you would do very well with those options & price. You will enjoy the truck, performance, ride & utility are all ecellent. I went from an older Nissan to the Ranger & really enjoy it. My wife likes the ranger as well, good in the snow we have once in a while in winter & she uses it when...
Still locked down & spending time out in the shop. Sent for a carbide scribe to mark knife edge stock to make lines for the grinder. Made this. Just the aluminum block(typo!) milled, drilled & tapped to hold the cutting bar. I use number drills for the depth shims.
Made this knife as well...
Whatever the tow rating, I limit towing to 1,500# without trailer brakes. Above that number & it isn't safe to tow. Not saying you can't do it around town in a pinch without problems, just saying that trying to stop on a curve at speed will end in a problem very quickly.
This is similar to the...
Thanks to all of the docs, nurses, truckers, fire & police, they're out there every day keeping our country running. My son (Army, E7) has had his hours cut back severely at this point, but he's still showing up on post on a limited basis. Please be careful out there. We're stronger than this virus!
Here's what I did yesterday to prepare for the coming lock-down & plague. Looking forward to getting the shipment on the milling machine in the next week or two, but for now the stand is coming along well enough. It's a small bench-top model from Precision Matthews. No CNC stuff for now, will be...
It's an interesting phenomena to watch. The media hypes everything negative in the news, or it isn't shown. I've been watching this thing unfold & I do have a couple of comments.
1 - It's a fairly new virus which has no vaccine or "cure" medically, so most people are subject to infection...
