Agree. I would have replaced my 2007 Tacoma with another Tacoma if the 2019 Ranger had not come out.

I had the dealer find an XL/STX with locking differential. He found one at another dealer and it was at a surprising good price. Very happy with the Ranger. Had an International Scout II 4x4 a number of years back and still got stuck.

Ford really let Ranger owners down with towing. Failed to provide complete and accurate information on what a aftermarket controller and what a factory installed controller can and cannot do. Left all of us to guess. Also failed to provide the four wires under the dash on all vehicles...

My first tow. Round trip Sacramento to Bodega Bay about 300 miles. Ran into 12 to 15 mph steady winds going there; a little sway and 12 mpg. No wind on way back and got 21 mpg; huge difference. Have a WDH without sway control. Big Blue ... does your Centerline WDH have sway control, and...

I too love the SuperCab; need the six foot bed. Harder to find in Sacramento region, but I guess that is because the Crew has a bigger profit margin. Locking rear differential was the more difficult option to find.

I'd like to understand the trailer sway control feature a bit better. Does the feature apply brakes on the Ranger, the trailer, or both ? How does the Ranger detect trailer sway ? Is there a sensor on the Ranger to detect sway ? Would appreciate any help.

Locksmith made a blade key for my Ranger with a transponder chip. Opens the door and starts the engine. I have to insert the same key into ignition switch within 12 seconds before alarm goes off. Think key, cutting, and programming about $100.

I can tell you my 2019 XL did not have the 4 wires under dash that other Ranger's have. Dealer did not believe me so I brought it in. Shop foreman couldn't find them. Wound up paying four hours of shop labor for them to find tap/splice points and run them to dash. Really pissed, and wrote...

Traded in my 2007 Tacoma for new Ranger. Tacoma's are over priced, not that special, and got poor ratings from Consumer Reports.

Not sure if this helps you or not. I had a P2 brake controller installed by the dealer. He noticed that the 30 amp fuse would blow anytime the P2 is connected or disconnected. Can't understand why it would do that, but just told me to pull the fuse before I do any connect or disconnect...

Is anyone having to use premium gas when towing ? Owner's manual recommends premium during hot weather and when towing.

Great post Joem. I tried the Echo too and it stop working the second day. Unfortunately, I have the XL trim (with tow package) and this trim doesn't come with the pre wire for brake controller under dash. Dealer confirmed this and said that it would take 2 to 4 hours of shop labor to install...

Very long story, I did get tow package, but still wires not there. Ford and I are in discussions. My question is on anyone's experience on Autobrake.

Has anyone used an Autobrake Electric Brake Controller and what do you think of it ? It's trailer mounted, so I won't need a 4-wire pigtail under the dash. No thanks to Ford, they didn't put the 4-wire pigtail on my XL trim, so there isn't a connection point in the cab for a controller.

Thanks for your help. I'm giving up and will go with the Tekonsha Prodigy RF, so that I can start towing up the Alcan next month. From other posts, the Prodigy RF route will negate the efforts of automatic emergency braking and electronic trailer sway control, but there's not much I can do...

Archie .... did the Prodigy RF have an effect on the automatic emergency brakes or the trailer sway control features ??

gbritt89 .... Can you post back and let me know what you had installed and the result. I also have an XL with pre wire to the rear bumper for 4 and 7 pin connector. But no (four) cut wires under dash for brake controller.
