Does your odb reader have a switch on it? I have started with the switch in the wrong position and encountered issues like the picture you posted. When that happens I would flip the switch and start over, no more issues. If it doesn't have a switch then I suspect your reader may have issues...

The specs I read on the FX2 I thought it said it was supposed to have skid plates. I think it was the plastic one. I am ordering them for mine and basically tiring it into an FX2. I'll have everything but the decal when I'm done.

My button doesn't illuminate either (at least not that I can tell). Press it get out and lock your doors and see if the light stays on. Mine fades out when it's off after the doors are locked.

Can you post a picture of the lights you are referring to? Ford offers an option for bed lights you turn on by touching. I think we are talking about two different things though.

I installed mine with the boots down also. I have the Gibson dual exhaust and I feel like it would have been too close on the driver's side to the boot.
