OME or ICON leafs will give you a better ride than the blocks did and get your rear lift back. What exhaust did you have put in that hits the leaf, or was it the wreck that ruined it?
Grabber ATX have been amazing in my opinion. Great traction on snow and off road, great durability, and low noise. That being said I think the KO3 is a newer/better design, whereas the ATX is better than a KO2. I am leaning toward KO3s when my ATX finish wearing out at the end of the summer...
You should still be able to use the Ford performance tuning module to change the tire size, read codes, and view diagnostic data. If it’s worth it to you for that.
Here are pictures of how jacked up my factory driver's side leaf was at 77k miles. My best guess is it got twisted out of whack while off roading (3-wheel event lifting a rear wheel?) and I never noticed. It still rode normal.
I am sitting at a 2" rake now with the 2.5" level and new ICON springs -- here are fender measurements to level ground --
38" front / 40" rear on the passenger side
37.5" front / 39.5" rear on the driver's side (I did re-use the factory driver's leaf spacer)
I am expecting the rear to settle...
They are not shot at 50k, they recommend rebuilding at 50k so you never have to experience degradation. My Fox 2.0 are at 75k and are still good. And yes, when a shock is truly blown it's easy to test and identify as such, they will leak fluid or be bouncy and no longer dampen.
Definitely do it! I'd only go 32" tires though personally. It's plenty for real off road especially with more travel and 2-3" lift/level.
I'm happy with the Fox 2.0, but I think the ICONs with the external reservoirs would be a nice option too unless you have the $$$ for the Fox 2.5 and really...
I got my ICON rear leaf springs in today at the 3/8" rear lift configuration. They definitely ride better. The install was not bad with an extra set of hands from a buddy. The hardest/worst part was the first bump stop bolt broke off like others have been reporting. I will deal with that another...
Who doesn't need a truck? And suspension sag under load compared to stock for a light duty midsize Ranger is your suspension performance metric, correct?
Exactly this. Year round the only load in my bed is camping or sports equipment annd mountain bike and occasionally the low tongue load of a small camper. Maybe once every year or two I load the bed up with Home Depot materials. I’m looking for a better ride and increased off road travel over...
Headlights are a piece of cake to adjust with a phillips screwdriver, who on earth would not readjust them after a level?
A level does not hit mpg.
A level does not add driveshaft vibration.
There is sooooo much more in Wyoming than Yellowstone. More remote unpopulated rough country than anyone could imagine. Go wander the forests and steal ideas from the organized Jeep trail off road tour groups.
AFIK from working on past vehicles like my old Tbird the shop manuals tend to say to use any HD grease like you would use in zerk fittings for grease. I have not checked the Ranger factory manual but would definitely recommend doing so. It's free and posted here on the forum.
I'm happy with the Ford tuned Fox 2.0, I'm not touching them until they are clearly worn out / blown or leaking. I agree with the wide skepticism of the Fox recommended 50k mile rebuild.
I do have upgrade "the itch" again approaching year 6 with my Ranger and I think I'm going to slap on ICON...
yeah I off-road a few times a year. If you think about it even just highway miles and city driving beats the piss out of shocks, too, just at lower travel.
