  1. 2023 Ranger broken steering gear and differential blown

Seen a few people on here and other boards and FB groups saying their rear diffs blew pretty early on.
  2. What did you do WITH your Ranger today?

Just home from spending all day with my sister, my son and daughter, son-in-law, and my wife moving a lot of my mother's stuff to a house literally across the street and two doors down. So the Ranger and my son-in-law's Eff One Fiddy got a workout hauling stuff 200 feet today, many many trips...
  3. What did you do WITH your Ranger today?

    Hit 60,000 miles.
  4. Tire Survey

I upsized to 265/70-17 Cooper AT3's. Like them but now that they're halfway worn down they're a little sketchy in the rain. Next time I'll go back to Firestone Destination AT2's that I had on my old Sport Trac or Mastercraft Courser Trail's, tread is similar to Falken Wildpeaks, Mastercraft is...
  5. 4x4 packages

I have an STX with the base suspension and no locker. Be nice to have it but not absolutely necessary for me. I did replace the rear shocks at 50k. Had a vibration I couldn't figure out and it turned out the rear shocks were weak.
  6. Tire recommendations

One of my Firestones did wear out prematurely despite regular rotation and checking the air. The other three were fine. I had it replaced pro-rated under the tire warranty at a Firestone store before the recall. Made me wonder if it would have exploded if it was on an Explorer. The offending...
  7. Tire recommendations

The low rear tire pressure on Explorers was part of it and the recall also involved new tire pressure stickers saying 30 psi for the rear tires instead of 26. Still, the only real problems were with Firestone All-Terrains in one specific size (P235/75-15) made at one specific factory (you could...
  8. Driveline Vibration??

Ford doesn't put enough lube on the slip yoke in the driveshaft. The carrier bearings have been known to crap out early. I had a vibration that multiple wheel balancing wouldn't fix. After a while I noticed it was worse on some highways than others and decided to get new rear shocks. Nothing...
  9. 2021 Ford Ranger oil analysis 3 and 4

Looks good but the silicon took a big jump so maybe check your air filter. I'm used to Blackstone's reports but I don't see a fuel dilution number which is most peoples' main concern.
  10. Driver door armrest solutions? General comfort for tall leggy types?

I'm 6'1" and mostly legs also. I rest my arm on top of the door panel next to the window. I did recently have to buy some new dress shirts because the fabric was wearing through on the left elbow. I put the seat as far back as it will go and as low as it will go, then give the back of the...
  11. Which is the best catch can

I'd get the Ford unit because it will be OE quality. After a couple years a lot of folks are complaining that the hoses are brittle and cracking on the aftermarket ones.
  12. What did you do WITH your Ranger today?

My experience in recent years is that batteries are on borrowed time after three years. Which means I'm due.
  13. What did you receive in the mail today for your Ranger?

I used to work in a hospital supply warehouse. This amuses me.
  14. What did you receive in the mail today for your Ranger?

Winter wiper blades. Rock Auto sent them in a box big enough for a playpen.
  15. What did you do WITH your Ranger today?

Hit 105 mph on an empty stretch of highway on my way home from work. Was still pulling strong but I figured it was going to hit the limiter any second and I was running out of straight road.
  16. What did you receive in the mail today for your Ranger?

New cabin air filter. Best price was online from Walmart.com. With tax and free shipping a little under $9.
  17. Decided to buy a Ranger 4X4

2021+ they decontented some things and there is less truck for your money. Unless you're going to seriously off-road, you don't need an FX4 with the skid plates. I have a 2020 STX 4x4 and for snow and wet boat ramps it's perfectly fine.
  18. 93 octane and HP/TQ numbers

I ran several tanks of everything and tracked the mpg. It was slightly better with 89 over 87, enough that the extra cost is a wash. Most locations of the chain where I get my gas have E15 88 which costs less than 87, so I normally get that and if I can't then I get 89. Saw no difference in...
  19. The Spin continues: "EV sales have increased exponentially since prehistoric times"

I think EV's are right for some people, like if you live in a place where it takes an hour to drive four miles, but I disagree with the government forcing all of us into them. People should be able to buy what they want without being incentivized or penalized by the government.
  20. Trash?

    The passenger seat.
