  1. Next-Generation Ford Ranger To Get Plug-In Hybrid Model.. 362 HP

I'd have to see the system. Dodge has "passive hybrid" trucks. High voltage battery packs that feed and get regenerative braking charge from a belt belt driven generator/electric motor. This thing gives the engine belt driven boost in high power demand, and charges the drive batteries back up...
  2. Several threaded inserts/holes in my Ranger's box. How to use?

Thanks, Like you Bedrug floor cover. I have a bare box so I went for the full bed liner. Swing cases or a case may be in my future. ...simple to punch holes thru the Bedrug. ..what are the WxLxH dimensions on the swing case?
  3. Several threaded inserts/holes in my Ranger's box. How to use?

The threaded holes appear the same as yours. Tie down loop is moved on yours. I could try and guess, but what is the attachment. Thanks. Thanks.
  4. Several threaded inserts/holes in my Ranger's box. How to use?

Finally fixing my Bedrug to the box. I've noticed at least eight tapped holes/threaded inserts. Two in each box side by the tail gate. Two more in each side near the wheel hump. Vehicle mfgrs are fairly accommodating for their own, or aftermarket attachments and add-ons. What attachments use...
  5. 2019-2020 Ranger Discount Offers For The Rest of May

My go to when shopping for a vehicle is KBB.com. Build this Lariat on their site per the window sticker and they will give you MSRP and dealer invoice. I've never been hungry or in a rush, so I push for 2% below invoice and usually get it, or 1% below. (Never bought a Toyota, they're rigged)...
  6. 2019-2020 Ranger Discount Offers For The Rest of May

Late 2019 discounts were significantly larger. MSRP vs the Taco and Colorado was better, as well being superior in nearly all categories. These discounts sealed the deal for me.
  7. Help!!!! Dealer forgot coolant Cap!!!

I also think no damage was done. The truck's 'anti self destruction systems' did their job. You will know soon enough once the system is pressure tested, refilled and you get a few miles on it. The coolant level should hold if everything is good. ....hmm, why did the dealer have to remove the...
  8. First Tow!

I took my 3000# boat/trailer for a 20 mi. test tow. I didn't set tow mode. Previous Durango I'd up pedal shift to reduce clutch pack wear when accelerating. I did this with the Ranger at first, but realized this was unnecessary. The 330 ft lb torque and 10 speed tranny accelerated easily w/o...
  9. U.S. Ranger Sales Surged in Q1 and Now Match Chevy Colorado’s Volume

Our Dart Aero gets 40+ on long trips. 1.3L Fiat turbo, so there is also plenty of get up and go when needed.
  10. Rookie Trailer Hitch Question

Same advice as above. I mainly tow my boat/trailer. I want the trailer tongue level. If not level slightly high. Hitch adapters generally come in 1" drop/raise increments. My Cherokee's adapter is close enough, ...but could stand to be 1" lower. A touch high doesn't hurt when launching in...
  11. U.S. Ranger Sales Surged in Q1 and Now Match Chevy Colorado’s Volume

The Ranger's sales growth doesn't surprise me. Below is a spec comparison I made with the Taco and Colorado before purchasing my Ranger. Toyota will likely hold 1st place. ....my prejudice here, but I believe Toyota buyers are basically scared of vehicles, and have bought in to Toyota's well...
  12. Excess Brake Pedal Travel?

I did buy the Ranger w/o a test drive. ...just like my previous Cherokee and Dodge Dart Aero. I decide on my new vehicles by comparing specs against my key criterion. The Ranger stood head and shoulders above the Taco and Colorado in torque, towing, payload, fuel economy. Plus the 2019...
  13. Excess Brake Pedal Travel?

The first thing I noticed when I got in my new Ranger was the brake pedal traveled about 30% down before brake engagement. Sales guy said if felt normal. My other vehicles have a small amount of pedal slack - 1/2" max before brake engagement. I recently noticed at a long stop light the Ranger's...
  14. Am I Screwed? (Tow rating question.)

Other things I really liked (assume part of the towing pkg) were the cancellation of rear obstruction alarms, and the option to extend your blind spot alert to your trailer's length. I didn't have my 7 pin connected when I hooked up the boat trailer to back it into the garage for some work. The...
  15. Am I Screwed? (Tow rating question.)

I was wondering if the Ranger's tow package included a trans. cooler. Some vehicles don't w/o the tow package. I checked Ford's web page. Apparently the trans cooler is std. across all models. It's not called out as part of the 53R package. Also I recently took my boat/trailer on a test tow...
  16. should be able right?

I bought my Ranger for the towing rating, plus the roading fuel economy. I haven't towed my +- 3200# boat/trailer yet, but have no concerns when I do. I agree with the above. To me the 7500# rating means towing 7500# every day, every mile through the 5 yr warranty. I'm retired from big green...
  17. Faint burning smell when parked in the garage

I'm approaching 1000 mi, and notice the odor. But I'm not worried since it's new, and has a hot very hot turbo. I'm less worried after reading this thread. Seems like a common issue. ....our 'lil Dart 1.3L turbo has an electric coolant circulating pump that runs on after shut down to help cool...
  18. 5.0 Bed Mat Availability

I don't know what the bed mat costs. And if that's what you want, it doesn't matter. I purchased a full box liner "Bed Rug" from Real Truck. $439. The feature/benefits are listed on the site. I'll be using it in a few weeks to transport some nice furniture, and won't need pads and blankets. I...
  19. First use of Ranger's real locker. Happy.

Our Ranger is our third 4X4, first with a rear locking diff. I drove my son's Neon home for 'storage' after he upgraded to a new car. Storage is a pad shared with our boat, but was blocked with Iowa snow blower snow pile. I was too lazy to fire up the snow blower, so I cut down the bank as much...
  20. Who am I to believe? (Heads up 2019 owners)

I understand the dangers of mixing OAT (yellow - orange) with green ethylene glycol. A gooey mess that can ruin a cooling system. But I'm not aware of problems mixing OAT brands or formulations. I research and purchase the aftermarket brands that meet the OEM spec. Same for engine oil.
