I have one of those in both my vehicles. Different brand though. They work great but I wish I could manually set the low voltage cutoff, mine shuts off at 11.8v which is too low for my liking. That one you linked looks much nicer since it has a timer. I might replace mine with that.

I have some of the vinyl letters and have no problems with them. Going in 2 years. Mine were made from 3M vinyl. Do a wet install and they are pretty easy to line up.

You could try a different USB cable. AA is very particular with cables.
