I am coming from a 2003 Range that has been my go to vehicle. I love that truck and may sell it someday. The new truck just seems huge. I am struggling with parking it and it's size. I feel like I have been driving an F-16 and now I am driving a B-52. I guess I will get used to it but I wish it was a little shorter and not as tall. I would have bought the extended cab if the overall length would have been shorter.
Nope!

The odd thing is, how close they are on paper. '10 is on the left, '19 is on the right. Does not factor in the FX4 steroid package.

one person's "close" is another person's f150 (which is only another "little bit more"). The most noticeable one is height, and there's actually a bigger difference between the old & new ranger than there is between a new ranger and a new f150.

Bad azz ! I wonder if it will be the 2.3 ecoboost.
Regards
Probably the 2.0 or the 2.7 that were in the Fusion. If I had money I’d buy a Fusion, do the RWD 5.0 Swap, and then make it a UTE.

. . . there's actually a bigger difference between the old & new ranger than there is between a new ranger and a new f150.
Numbers is numbers and numbers can be fudged to fit the argument. The same comparison (Edmund's) puts the old and new Ranger difference at 5.5 inches and the new Ranger and a new F150 difference at 5.5. Again, not factoring in the FX4 package, which adds about 36 inches. Or so it feels like to me.

Now that it has been established that most of the dislikes are the height of the rear, how are people with this dislike going to fix this?
I'll just leave it as is. My slight preference for having it a bit lower is not enough to spend much money or effort on.

I might look into it and if it's an easy fix I might lower it a bit. I am 6'5" so it is not like I have problems putting anything in the bed. I just don't see why it had to be this high. Maybe it is my age but I am not a fan of high or lifted trucks.

Well, I looked at Ford's numbers but you do you. :like: Ford says that supercrew 4x2's are 75.6 inches for the f150, 71.1 inches for the 2019 ranger, and 66.3 inches for the 2011 ranger. That's a 4.5 inch difference between the current ranger and the f150, and 4.8 inches between the rangers. Edmunds probably used the 4x4 numbers somewhere, and I know how important it is to you to avoid that so I'm happy to help.

Tell me you gave the 96 a name too!
@Anthony Actually no....not really. At the time I had my father's '78 F-100 and we called it Old Blue because it was a light blue. I learned to drive a stick with that truck (3 on the tree). My wife and I purchased our first vehicle together in '86. It was an '86 F-150 that was 2-tone blue (4 on the floor). We sold it around '92. So when we bought the Ranger in '96 (5 on the floor), we just called it The Ranger.

I just went from a 2001 regular cab short box Ranger Edge.
I would much prefer both shorter and lower.
You will get used to it though as I have.
At least they gave us a tight steering radius and a running boards option.
In a couple of weeks, go test drive a Crewcab F150 for about an hour.
Your Ranger will seem so much better on your way home.

Nope, if anything I would want a 61/2 foot bed the rest is fine it is still a lot smaller than a full size which I also like and own. Parking, no problem with either of my trucks. I don't like the super cab like I do the super crew.

Yes, I wish it was sized closer to my 1987 Toyota or 2001 Chevrolet S10 ZR2. If anyone would build a smaller pickup that is truck-like and not just a crossover with a bed I would buy it in a minute.
