IMO, these aren't better... they are just different. And to me, the plastic looks cheap compared to the oem.

The main difference is that the stock ones don’t vent (Unless you count the tiny weep hole for drainage), and the stock ones are painted Magnetic Metallic. You can still paint these guys ones too if you want them to look more like the stock placard covers.

As-is they nicely match the plastic of the Door handles on the XL and XLT

Did you paint the area behind the vent black per the instructions or install without?
I test fitted them before installing to see how much Blue I was going to see through the mesh. I couldn’t see any significant amount so I chose not to trash the inside of my fender with black paint. You’d have to have your eyeballs right up on it with a flashlight to see the blue come through.

maybe if you were brighter colored like white or silver it could be more noticeable. But it’s pretty dark in there once they’re covered up with the vents.

I like the idea of venting the engine compartment, it is hot in AZ. But, not for $169. each, not even for $169. for both.

I agree, but some people like them and that's cool as well.

I used my FordPass Rewards points and paid nothing from a local Ford dealer.

And the price isn’t per vent. It’s for the pair.

You have just given me a reason to get these and use my points, since Ford will be paying for them :like: Ya can't beat FREE !!!

I do not think they are plastic.
Feel like fiber glass. Have more weight than I thought.
Those who have installed unpainted (matte black), how does the finish hold up to washing. Does it scratch easily.
OE vent is magnetic but there is a lot of matte black on the side So unpainted would fit it. Just wonder how the finish will hold up.

Any way of modifying the factory ones to vent air? I not not sure how these play into under hood pressurization at highway speeds and any significant increase in drag because of that extra air but on the trail it might help a little?

What vehicle does Ford use this on if sold as a Ford part?
Box marked as "Sport" but I have never seen in USA.
Is this a non USA part? Made in Mexico.
