The main difference is that the stock ones don’t vent (Unless you count the tiny weep hole for drainage), and the stock ones are painted Magnetic Metallic. You can still paint these guys ones too if you want them to look more like the stock placard covers.IMO, these aren't better... they are just different. And to me, the plastic looks cheap compared to the oem.
Did you paint the area behind the vent black per the instructions or install without?Yep, these vent out air from the engine compartment. Here’s what’s behind the vents.
I test fitted them before installing to see how much Blue I was going to see through the mesh. I couldn’t see any significant amount so I chose not to trash the inside of my fender with black paint. You’d have to have your eyeballs right up on it with a flashlight to see the blue come through.Did you paint the area behind the vent black per the instructions or install without?
I agree, but some people like them and that's cool as well.IMO, these aren't better... they are just different. And to me, the plastic looks cheap compared to the oem.
I used my FordPass Rewards points and paid nothing from a local Ford dealer.I like the idea of venting the engine compartment, it is hot in AZ. But, not for $169. each, not even for $169. for both.
You have just given me a reason to get these and use my points, since Ford will be paying for them Ya can't beat FREE !!!I used my FordPass Rewards points and paid nothing from a local Ford dealer.
And the price isn’t per vent. It’s for the pair.
Funny part is the RTR Fender Vents (https://www.rtrvehicles.com/collections/ranger-rtr-parts/products/ranger-rtr-fender-vents) are going for $199. Im right there with you, seems expensive and that $169-$199 could go to better upgrades....I like the idea of venting the engine compartment, it is hot in AZ. But, not for $169. each, not even for $169. for both.
Looks like RTR is working on it.Looks like a potential place to route a snorkel...
