Then how are they fitting a v6 into the 2021?
The better question is why? If MY 2021 will be the same design as the existing model, why would Ford go through the expense of re-tooling just to fit another engine for just one year production? Makes no economic sense, but I could be wrong.
I am reasonably certain that the frame design for the 6G will be upgraded from the present design, addressing rigidity, NVH issues, etc.

The new Bronco is getting a V6, so if the 6th Gen Ranger is built on that platform, logic holds that it will get the V6 too.

However the 2021 Ranger is not on the new platform.

Indeed, Ford's bean counters would have major hissy fits if engineering wanted to modify the existing frame and associated hardware to accommodate a V6 for just 1 years production.
A notable exception to this was MY Chevy's from '57-'59, the '58 was a radical departure from the '57, being re-designed from the ground up. Exterior styling was king back then and still is, to a more logical stance.
Then came the 'batwing' 59's which made the '58's look like weeks old leftovers !

2021 Bronco is a 6G, or not?? 2021 Ranger is supposed to be on same platform as the Bronco in 2021.

What am I (or you) missing?

I see 2020 Ranger and Bronco are still T6.

What's the new unibody pickup?

If the 2021 Bronco is a T6, how can they fit the 2.7L ecoboost engine in? And if they could, they should be able to do the same for Ranger too. Initial Bronco is said to be built on the Ranger platform, etc.
However, as for the manual transmission, this information has surfaced before as well; in October 2018, to be precise. According to Jalopnik, sources claim that Ford has asked Getrag to build a manual transmission for the new Bronco. Dubbed the MT 88, it will most likely be paired to the 2.7-liter EcoBoost V-6 engine and may have seven gears.

According to this topspeed article, the 2019 Ranger had two engine options, of which we know is not true, or, perhaps Ford perhaps pulled back the 2.7 option for some reason?

And, they at least have to finish. Or maybe this was just a publicity stunt, like the Musk unbreakable windows?

Ford did confirm that it is built on a modified version of the T6 midsize platform that will underpin the production Bronco and that the "twin turbos of the EcoBoost engine are representative of what the production Bronco will offer."
So will 2021 Ranger be a "modified T6" ??
