But holy hell they drain super slow! I’ve been sitting here for a half hour and there’s still oil coming out. I ran it for 5 minutes beforehand too to make the oil move a little easier. (Yes, the fill cap is removed up top and the filter is off too)

Well, I guess I can clean the garage up a bit in the meantime.

Aha. I figured it out. You want the drain hose as short and vertical as possible. Once I cut the drain hose and put an old washer fluid bottle right underneath, it started coming out much much faster.

It helps to get the oil up to near operating temp, which takes a little while longer than the engine coolant. We use these and similar valves/drains on our diesel equipment. In the winter you absolutely have to let the engine run for 15-20 minutes or it will take half the day to drain 10 quarts of oil.

Here’s the valve you need: https://www.amazon.com/Fumoto-F107N...10064&s=automotive&sr=1-1-catcorr-spons&psc=1

You’ll also need the adapter since the pan is recessed. https://www.amazon.com/Fumoto-ADP-1...ds=ADP-107&qid=1559311785&s=automotive&sr=1-1

also optionally grab the clip to lock the valve. Cheap insurance. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B011SDCZAK/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

even applying a little suction at the end of the hose helps get it going to. I also loosen the oil cap while it drains.
