Found this on LevittownFordParts.com. They have taken the link off but still left the option available.

If I had the kind of money where I thought it was ok to ford a $40k truck, I hate to tell you guys, I probably wouldn't still be in a Ranger

Trying to get my head around this. Somewhere on the forum there was a post where a guy was talking about ruining his alternator and battery primarily because he submerged the alternator in mud while off road. He noted that the alternator was mounted low on the engine on the Ranger. Seems to me you would be walking before you needed a snorkel? How does that work?

snorkels are to prevent dust from being sucked up into the engine. Its above the roof of the car so its breathing clean air, not dirty, dusty air kicked up by your wheels. No one is fording a stream higher than their vehicle. That's just dumb.

Not to mention the truck's seals would be overwhelmed and the cabin flooded:giggle:

Ever see Dante’s Peak? Not that I would do that. If a volcano is going off I have more problems than fording a flooded river.

this will make some posers very happy. might attract some more Taco fans to this side too.

How functional will it be though??

Ive always wondered if accessories like snorkles can be quick disconnect items.
Like you know, on occasion I could be in a situation where it's handy, like when the dam breaks and floods my hood, but i dont need it for daily driving. Much the same way, I dont wear a condom unless I poised for a romantic interlude...
otherwise you just trash up the appearance of the truck for functionality that doesnt exist at the moment.
I prefer to wear a snorkel rather than a condom but the ladies...not so much, ya know?

And, people think you can drive your truck underwater, which is cool!

All true, I for one, want a snorkel/air intake. Peace of mind. Have taken my f150 on trails and dropped into deeper than expected mud holes. Still have to understand limits though, and apparently alternator placement.

I like to live dangerously, no condoms for me. Also no snorkels... I'll take my chances.
